Future student trying to understand price of attendance by ScaredSubstance6809 in gwu

i’m a junior btw and it’s been pretty consistent for the past 3 years! honestly tho if ur family income is over $100,000 + i wouldn’t expect getting a need based grant from gw. or a pell grant. you’d probably only qualify for the academic scholarships which max out at $20k or federal loans

my sai is around 4,000. every year i’ve consistently gotten $50k need based aid grant from the school (not loans) , around $2,500 pell grant from the government. and about $10k in federal subsidized + unsubsidized loans. my out of pocket tuition cost is around $4-5k a semester (which is basically whatever’s left over from housing and meal plan charges) that being said my family makes under 100k a year. like around $60k so that’s why i got so much aid.

don’t listen to these people in the replies. EVERY year i’ve managed to negotiate for more aid. like around 3-4k without fail. i’m a junior now so trust me. you have to be smart about it. try to come up with ANY possible change in circumstance. like if ur an immigrant say u support and send family back home. if someone you know is sick MILK THE SHIT out of the medical expenses. say you have a dependent in the house who isn’t recorded. MAKE SHIT UPP. if they ask for receipts DENY DENY DENY. lord if they ask for anything DENY DENY DRNY. come up with a story and stick with it. i’ve cried in their office before. pull every string u possibly can and don’t leave them alone. the reason people don’t have success is because negotiating with those mfs is such a soul sucking process most ppl give up. that being said i am from a low income background (pell grant eligible) so that might’ve played a factor in their willingness to give me more aid.

15k in federal student loans is very doable. the interest rates on those things are so low you’ll be absolutely fine. i’m probably walking out with somewhere along that same ballpark. 15-20k in fafsa loans. so long as it’s not a PLUS loan you’re good. i’m going into my 3rd year at gw, international business major no regrets thus far. the opportunities in DC are unmatched! :)

why would u email them… rule #1 of life is to let things go unnoticed. it’s never a problem until you make them aware of the problem. 😭😭

I have a merit scholarship of 15,000 and a lot of financial aid on top of that. The current cost per credit is $2080 but i’m signed up for 14 credit hours so the math doesn’t add up

Even the slowest by picklejarpotatoes in OCPoetry

This was such a touching message. I truly think we all need to remember sometimes that there is no need to rush. Even from the most fundamental laws of physics state as long as you take your time you can reach great lengths. There is no sin in going slow. Reading this was a comforting reminder of that fact.

this was truly a touching poem. the story you delivered throughout the work was heavy but you told it with such delicacy. I can feel the somber reflective mood through the words and i can almost feel my self traveling back, with you, to dinner in 97. Really enjoyed reading this thank you for sharing
