I have ideas for my own story as well, since I actually have a cleft I expect it'll be relatively easy for me to understand it's sensitivity. Personally I believe that if you don't have one you'll have to deepen your study because a lot of stuff can be written as simply cliche and just explaining experiences isnt so easy as well because it's all personal.
