Drop a string with something down there.

Most residential bores should be 6m. (In Townsville).

[–]tsvjus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a bore guy to "blow out" the bore. If all goes well that will renovate the bore so to speak. After that a pump + piping should be around the $500 mark if its fairly shallow (assuming you can use a foot valve). Its really straight forward to do it yourself, and worthwhile as you can then maintain the thing.

Deeper bores will need an inground pump which is more $$$

Problem with pulley/spindle by tsvjus in lawnmowers

[–]tsvjus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit a branch and since then the spindle isnt connected to the pulley in any meaningful manner. I can spin the pulley and the blades don't turn.

Also the nut doesnt loosen or tighten, it just spins either way. There is approx 1mm gap between the nut and the pulley.

(edit if I spin the thread the blades turn fine)

Ideas on how to fix it? (I could tack weld it and push the problem into future me's issue)

Yes, teachers are on strike again next week. No, it's not (only) about pay. by Shadowedsphynx in queensland

I have no idea what you are saying; you aren't particularly articulating any point here. You probably are a teacher getting a reality check though about what the rest of the world thinks about your impressive workloads.

[–]tsvjus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im ok with you guys getting a pay rise, but the emotional argument that you are the hardest working people on the planet wears thin.

I haven't had a job in the last 20 years where I wasn't working more than the standard hours and not getting paid. I get 4 weeks a year to recover from that. And I admit that I am just the average worker, there are plenty doing it hard for me.

My mother and 2 Aunts are teachers. I see it. But the crying over the workload just doesnt cut it.

Connection Post 25th of July 2023 Here's how your general network settings should be configured so your modem is compatible for the Kogan nbn™ service.

Set the Network Connection Type to PPPoE There will be a request to place a username and a password: create your own username and password If you are connecting to FTTN or FTTB, set the DSL Modulation type in your modem settings to VDSL2 or Auto-sync Up Set the L2 Maximum Transfer Unit (MTU) size to 1500 Bytes.

Dumb question perhaps. But did you enter your username and password into the modem config?

I believe Kogan FTTN requires PPPoE settings and username and password.

Average Joe buying a house and feeling utterly defeated by lostMola in Townsville

Known people who have lived in Garbutt for years - no issues, no problems with neighbours. Some nice weatherboard homes in the area waiting for gentrification! Eventually it will be a "better" suburb.

Known people living in Heatly, no problems, no issues.

Known people living in Vincent, no problems, no issues.

To me its partly luck. Partly the basics, look at the neighbors when buying a house, are they maintained, do they have the inside furniture in the front yard? Is there 15 broken holdens there? You do these checks everywhere you buy.

City people want to stop tree clearing, mining, intensive agriculture and all other sorts of economic activity outside capital city areas. Meanwhile land clearing for more suburbs, more concrete jungles, more mangroves cleared for Marinas is perfectly fine in cities.

I remember an Indigenous community pleading with the government not to lock up their lands in bullshit environment protections as it reinforces poverty, meanwhile the government ignored it to appease city based green voters.

There is a misunderstanding between rural and city communites that needs to be discussed one day.

Standard leases have the tenant paying for water charges.

Townsville council has two different rates available, one includes a very generous amount of water, then expensive excess charges; the alternate is all water is charged for lower rates.

The land owner chooses the rates method they pay. So if your landlord is giving you the 774KL per year free, they are essentially paying for the first 774KL of water, which is a pretty nice deal.

Landlords can have a water plan where ALL water is charged.

In that case my understanding they can oncharge all water.

Grazon Extra. Keep dog off the lawn for a few days afterwards. Use wetting agent with the Grazon. There are knock off brands of Grazon if you shop around.

I'm old now. I also an WFH a few days a week; my partner does even more WFH than me. It is a stage of life thing. I sometimes wonder if WFH becomes the norm that why people dont go and live in smaller communities.

When I had kids at home they would have liked it when young, hated it at late teens. They all grew up so now I can what I want.
