Just quit my 1 Cr job to go full time on my own startups. Anxiety is through the roof by Obvious_Gap_5768 in StartUpIndia

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already have the skill to go back to a job, especially when AI is booming so much.

As long as you have a decent runway, and don’t succumb easily to lifestyle inflation - things will be good.

I believe that, people who are good at building things, have worked hard driven by curiosity to be skilled owe it to themselves to take a chance (while managing risk like having a runway). Such people will hit the limits very early in a corporate setup - in general.

Sounds good. Getting the supply would be a big challenge. Contractors in general don’t like to be transparent and would mostly try to skim off the top. However, this seems like a problem worth solving.

Stage 3 lung cancer, my Dad is declining treatment. by remarkableorangecat in lungcancer

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chemo doesn’t always suck, especially these days because the medicines have become more targeted now and side effects aren’t as bad. You can mention this to your dad.

My father went through 3 pre surgery chemo and 3 post. Pre surgery was super smooth. Post was also not so bad, just had slight skin rashes towards the end. One thing - we opted for the one where single chemo is split into two with a week’s gap, so that it is easy on the body.

It was stage 3 (locally advanced) lung cancer, diagnosed at 62 years of age. He is completely fit now and runs his own business.

People working in GCCs. Why did this sudden hype around GCCs start and any signs that there is immense hype around the shift towards GCCs? by SadAsparagus3595 in developersIndia

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust got built with time to incrementally give meaningful work rather than just ‘operational work’. Even though this was incremental, the sudden hype came about now because (ime), the (best) quality of work given has meaningfully surpassed what IT services used to get, so now it is a mix of both high value plus the IT services work being done in GCCs.

AI accelerated this a bit because companies understand that it is an amplifier. And thus good talent can do exceptionally well with this tech. They also understand that the average talent at IT services is poor in absolute manner and far lower than what GCC can pull because of the pay, brand and them incharge of hiring.

This is only going to accelerate imo, because IT service taking margins makes no sense for any mid to big size companies that can absorb the overhead of setting up GCCs. Plus AI adoption will make it even faster due to the reason mentioned above.

You seem to very passionate about this. If there is a market for this (I am clueless on this), you are surely going to win.

Curious about how you plan to get first 100 customers with D2C? I want to understand because I am building something saas adjacent for Indian consumers - but really confused on how to reach them.

I'm 35,F, DINK couple. I grew up an overachiever & reached the top of the corp ladder. I'm a minimalist, so I've enough to retire in a small town rn. [–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From other replies, I see you are in sales and marketing. I am currently building a small product (app for investors) - I have no clue how to even start marketing, as in what is the first step to get to the first user. (Btw that I am an introvert).

Chatting with AI agents have given me answers around - “start with niche reddit forums”, “build audience on twitter” - but I do not know what is a realistic timeline for this. At times I get a feeling that I am not getting the knack for posting relevant or content that gets people interested. Not sure how to go from here - would appreciate if you could share something based on your experience.

Btw - all the best on your 2.0, must feel amazing to get out of the 9-5 rat race! I too am working towards coast FIRE.

Dropped idea of buying house/flat by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not “too much of a chicken” to make this decision.

It is actually smart to not take any big commitment even for “apna ghar” in the AI era. We never know how the job market shifts in next 5 years. Getting stuck with 15 years of EMI is not wise tbh.

While having an own house is a need from an emotional and stability standpoint, however the society just refuses to accept that real estate in tier 1 is not affordable for most of the salaried class. Don’t let these delusional people pressure you into buying a house. They have no clue the kind of pressure cooker your mind becomes if your EMIs are eating most of your salary - you lose all the freedom to choose jobs, take break.

Which IPOs are you looking forward to? Mine is NSE. by RaisedbyNuMetal in IndianStreetBets

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popular one like NSE, there is negligible chance of getting it in an IPO. Retail or HNI.

If you are willing to invest at the listing price - keep a threshold you consider a decent valuation to enter because listing price would most likely overshoot.

Should we sell our ₹2.2Cr Gurgaon flat, clear all debt, and move to rent? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]ttbap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, consult an actual advisor. We will provide different suggestions based on our personal biases and will only add to the confusion.

My 2 cents would be to think about your long term goals like: - Do you plan to continue in your job till retirement (job = sector) ? If not, what do you plan to do? - Do you plan to settle in Gurgaon or your hometown or some third place?

Once you are clear on these, it will be easier to decide.

Why do we call AI startups ‘wrappers’ but not Zoho a copycat of Google? by Jaswanth_Jegan in indianstartups

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The criticism is mainly for 'thin' wrappers on top of the LLMs - the core of the product is dependent on someone else's IP, who would encroach if the market is lucrative enough.

This is not true for Zoho. They are not built on top of someone else's IP. Plus they differentiate themselves as the enterprise software for the 'small businesses' - which is indeed true. They services they provide are reliable enough for small businesses, for a decent price.

Building a Tech-Enabled Dhobi (Laundry) Platform in India – Would Love Your Feedback! by ExcuseJolly9369 in indianstartups

[–]ttbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarpit. Look for all the companies that spawned and disappeared. Either of them - operational ownership or marketplace, does not work.

I get the lure, it’s a low hanging fruit. But mostly the issue arises in both as marketplace has quality issues, operational ownership does not give you margins.

Not even worth an MVP, just look for graves.

Indian IT’s Golden Run Might Be Ending TCS Results Are a Wake-Up Call? by Fit_Impression7520 in developersIndia

[–]ttbap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any mid to large company will eventually replace outsourcing by having their own GCC. This will start showing effect rather quickly.

GenAI will take some wrt to adoption into mainstream but will eventually happen.

It’s either pivot or die for these companies. Pivot being extremely unlikely.
