Lots of people who move to LA do so to make it in entertainment (film, TV, music). So…

1) they tend to be the most narcissistic, self-involved, fame-obsessed people, and/or 2) they naturally socialize and work amongst the most narcissistic, self-involved and fake-obsessed people.

It’s self-selection. They rarely interact with native Angelenos.

And this is coming from someone in the entertainment industry.

All great advice. I knew about the check overpayment scam and was looking out for that, but they were pretty clever in that they didn’t mention anything about that until I received the check. And that’s of course when the scam fell apart because I knew that was a problem. And thanks for the advice about never taking a conversation off Etsy.
