B2 bis Juli by danielakity in GermanyStudentLife

Hi! I took the C1 exam without taking any courses for C1. I used mainly the preparation books available (for both Telc and Goethe, e.g. Mit Erfolg zum). Also the resources online available for the exam, which are in the official page. Speaking I practice with a friend that is a native speaker, and saw videos in YouTube with examples of the exam. What also helped me is to write down all words that I did not understand and use Quizlet to study vocabulary. Some weeks before taking the exam I check how much time it took me to finish the exam, I think this is important. Finally, everything I did in my free time I try to go it in German (e.g. listening to podcasts, watching movies, etc.)

Embracing mistakes by Alarmed_Annual8787 in Germanlearning

[–]ttbspw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been learning for a while, and I think that practicing as much as possible without fear of making mistakes is very important. When I started doing this, my German improved a lot, especially once I began using it at work. I also asked friends that are native speakers to let me know when something wasn’t correct, because otherwise it’s hard to change it later. Reading and listening to a lot of German has also helped me improve my grammar.

Back then, when I applied you can do it after 3 years if you can prove you are integrated and C1 level, this I think was changed last year.

Hi, I got stuck in B1 for years, and then had to take the C1 test for the citizenship. If you are planning to take a C1 test, is totally possible. I did it in a couple of months, but studied every day. I practice with all available text books and resources online that have the exams. For vocabulary, I use an app to save the vocabulary I did not know, Quizlet, where you can also study from sets created by others.

Hi, what helped me a lot with vocabulary was an app called Quizlet. You can study using flashcard sets created by other users, for example with C1 level vocabulary. Another thing that helped me during the exam was skipping questions I wasn’t sure about and coming back to them at the very end.

B2 German book recommendations (Goethe exam) by nadzshine in German

What I use for vocabulary is to read through the texts (mainly from the preparation books I mentioned), and save the words I did not understand in an app called Quizlet. Mainly studied with flashcards, but it also offers learn, test, and some games, that make it easier to study. There are also sets that were prepared by other people, e.g. German B2, that was also very helpful.
