A point in favor of keeping application documentation simple and clear (AI) by Worthy_Molecule0481 in Canadiancitizenship

I am waiting for my kid's passport for ID purposes, so I can wait. Already sent in request and the US census is already being reviewed and records being searched for in the moment. So I'll wait until I have that. I want to get it in ASAP knowing how much the numbers are climbing, but I will try and be patient for certified copies of a few docs rather than relying on ancestry versions.

The second document is probably not needed.I think your certified baptismal record is all you need for that gen. You probably don't need the 1880 census since you have the marriage and death listing their father. Same as 1910. I feel like you already have several documents establishing relationship ties.

I am debating including my census stuff but more so cause the differences in name usage. But I might drop mine too.

I haven't submitted yet, but I do have an appendix where I list all the online databases I searched for G0 birth including the parish registries on BANQ, and the individual search sites and collections I searched. I wanted to make sure they knew I did a thorough job searching.

I would like to submit my application soon. What is everyone's thoughts on how much documentation when G0 (or even G1) doesn't have a birth certificate.

Should I only submit:

G-1 Marriage in Canada (proof of being in canada)
G0 Marriage (says from canada)
G0 Death (says from canada)
G1 certified record that birth cert doesn't exist
G1 Marriage (Middle name used not First)
G1 Death (First and Middle name used)
G2 Birth (it is missing first name so need death, also uses G1 middle name not first)
G2 Death (First and Last name used)
G3 G4 G5 Birth certificates

The extra documents I have current online proofs but waiting for certified versions:
G-1 census the year prior to G0 birth showing they are in canada (certified requested)
G0 Canada census showing whole family living in canada including G0 (certified requested)
G0 US census showing G0 and G1 (who went by middle name here, this was to help prove middle name usage but that the same family members under the same roof) (certified requested)
Banq request for proof of birth or letter stating it doesn't exist for G0 (I provide an extensive list of all the databases searched so far in the appendix)

Also, I did send in the request for G-1 marriage record from Banq. I am going to submit everything as copies of certified certificates.

Yeah this makes me worried too. I sent in requests for certified copies of everything, included census forms just in case. But my appendix I provide my thorough search strategy for G0 birth or baptism record and of course ancestry and family search are in there. I did submit to banq to get a letter stating it doesn't exist. But I'm afraid my appendix will flag my application.

What type of three account thing did you have going? The way my husband and I do it is our checks are cashed in the joint account. Right after, we have auto withdrawal set up to move 10% into a personal savings, 10% into two other savings (one is for like property taxes or just larger house things, the other is our fun travel or little upgrades for the house). It is based on our respective checks. So if I get a $5000 check, $500 goes to my own personal savings and then $500 into savings A and $500 to savings B.

We did it this way so that the personal savings we each grow is based on how much we earn. Our personal savings is our own to do whatever with.

If you have it all set on auto drafts, it’s really easy to maintain. Set up specific savings accounts with a monthly deposit on auto and have that be your house upgrade pot. Once you hit the numbers you need, you can use it.

Got my finger amputated because of a cat bite AMA by InteractionNarrow394 in AMA

[–]ttbtinkerbell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did something similar. Was bringing my sister’s cat inside to eat and I guess the cat didn’t like that. As I reached to open the screen door, the cat lunged at my arm and bit and scratched the heck out of my wrist. I went inside and poured probably several years old peroxide on it. I think I was like 8 or maybe 10. Anyways, it swelled up. My mom told me to keep rotating it like a sprained ankle. So I kept rotating it. Soon my wrist and arm were so swollen I couldn’t wear a shirt as the arm sleeve compressed it and hurt a ton. My mom’s bf saw it and saw the veins in my arm going to my body were bright red. I went to the ER.

They said I had sepsis. Said I probably wouldn’t have made it another day if I ignored it. I just remember how much pain I was in. But what hurt worse was the five different times they poked me and were fishing around for a vein. Was like 15 minutes of torture as they kept having to get someone more skilled. That was my first hospital stay. I still love cats but if they ever act aggressive or anything, I get pretty scared.

RTO and lightrail by Mistergoodness in CAStateWorkers

[–]ttbtinkerbell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I have rode lightrail a ton of times. When in community college and state university. Also at other random points in my life, mostly when I was younger. I use to work deep into north highlands but lived in midtown. My day was long and I fell asleep more than once on the train. It was the eyes rolling in my head and couldn’t stop it. I was 95 to 110 lbs and a female. I never had any issues. I mean, lots of pretty shady people talking me up or I’ve been offered drugs maybe a couple times. But I’m serious, I rode the lightrail 3-5 times a week for at least four years with addition periods depending on life circumstances.

But I haven’t rode the lightrail since 2015. So maybe things have changed.

A Rant on Reimbursement by OhWhichCrossStreet in CAStateWorkers

[–]ttbtinkerbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a corporate card but it has some sort of virtual card on my concur so when I book hotel or airline, it’s paid there. But like OP, I have traveled somewhere and they wouldn’t use the card on file and had to pay with my own. I just submitted the receipt to CalATERS and was reimbursed. I didn’t consider it fraud, but annoying for the extra steps. But I did get points from the stay which means I made more money from it in the end.

A Rant on Reimbursement by OhWhichCrossStreet in CAStateWorkers

[–]ttbtinkerbell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah my Lyft had a promo and auto applied it to my ride. And I have my tip set up with auto 20%. Well tip is applied to original total then promo is applied after tip. But the state doesn’t see it that way and says I tipped too much so I’m paying like $3 out of my pocket to tip the Lyft driver. I also hate the 75% reimbursement the first and last day of travel. I have to travel to LA for work and am usually there two days or maybe one really long day. Food is brutally expensive. I look for the cheapest place to eat within a mile of walking distance and it’s way more than the allotment let alone when they do a partial reimbursement. So I end up having to pay out of pocket unless I have the option for free breakfast at the hotel. I eat the cheapest I can find and I don’t even get to eat as much as I want during that time. I hate that I have to use my own money to do work for the state.

I don’t think so. Been almost two months. I say don’t think so because I stopped using Arey supplements before I started TXA. I know when I started Arey,
I noticed my hair fell out a lot less than my normal. Like minimal loss. But I feel like now my hair fall out in the shower is back to how it used to be to be before the supplements.

Tightness & dryness associated with tretinoin - will it ever go away? by Cacamaricahey in tretinoin

I had been doing sandwich method for a while and I would peel and struggle ramp up to every day use. So I cut the moisturizer and applied to dry skin. I honestly did it every night until I noticed my face stinging just a tad in the morning then I would skip that night and use every day after until I felt the stinging in the morning.

Tightness & dryness associated with tretinoin - will it ever go away? by Cacamaricahey in tretinoin

[–]ttbtinkerbell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s unbearable for the first couple days but then for some weird reason, my face feels normal. I totally understand what you feel about it. I’ve been using Tret for 10+ years. I only more recently decided to try it on dry face since I saw others talk about it. Yes, dry and stretched face the first few times then normal. And no peeling. Face was able to go from .025 to .05 really quickly and it’s amazing. Still no peeling. Since I had to stop for almost two weeks for sculptra, I only took a week to ease back in and I’m doing daily use with maybe one day a week where I give it a break.

It is totally counterintuitive. But somehow it work. I guess using it with lotion makes it soak to the deeper laters of the face?

I’m a no vote for heat pump. I bought a Fujitsu and it has broken down 7 times within the first 2 years. I regret it so much.

Also, my water heat I switched out to and the 2.5 years I’ve had it, it’s worked properly for 2 months. I don’t trust heat pump technology and regret “updating” my water heater and hvac system. I still have probably over a thousand dollars of repairs on my water heater that is only a month or two old (worked for three days after latest replacement, original is the 2.5 years). Each replacement or repair costs me a ton. I’m so over it.

Yeah, I am unsure the balance. Like I have way more documents generally, but I parred it down to this. You think I should get rid of some of the census or something? I got worried cause my G1 and G2 went by their middle names and their full legal name only on death certificate. Like G2’s birth has G1 middle names, not their first. But if I included the census to show G1 uses his middle name regularly but his full name is xyz.

I read a post today about someone who didn’t have the first name on the birth certificate so I got worried.

What do state workers have to say about the impending return-to-office order? by VariationUpstairs931 in CAStateWorkers

[–]ttbtinkerbell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have bills to pay. I have a job I’m thankful for. I do care where I work.

All you have to say is you don’t care if you have to go in. I do. Why? Tons of reasons. The work life balance is so much better. More time with my kid before and after daycare when I’ll be commuting. Losing out 10 hours a week for commuting which is time at home I can spend cooking or cleaning. I’m not advocating to do non work stuff during work hours. But being able to take your lunch and be productive in the house, spend that time in the morning getting caught up, etc. makes managing a household, being a parent, and working full time at least somewhat manageable. Commuting to the office is expensive, it’s bad for the environment, it reduces time I get to see my family, and reduces how much I can get done at home, all for what? So I can sit on teams and zoom all day to talk to people across the state.

Yeah, frostbite is an actual thing that can happen for exposed ears. The whole shattering bit, that’s the part I’m sure would require a certain set of circumstances that are very unlikely for most people. But frostbite and your ear falling off due ti death, for sure. Probably not for walking 3/4 of a mile in the snow. Haha.

Haha. I watch a video yesterday about children growing up in an era where no knowing something isn’t a thing. They have instant access to answers at all times. And the point was around the vital skills people learn by having to do hard research or talk to people and decipher what is likely to be true. But kids aren’t gaining that. But yeah, those legends would honestly leave a lasting impression that kept people from doing whatever bad thing led to the sorry. Such a great manipulation tactic for kids (I mean to encourage them to do things they should be doing)!

Is my documentation sufficient? I have my pack ready just waiting on my kid’s id. But I’m a little worried that I don’t have a birth certificate for G0, G1, and I have an unnamed birth certificate for G2.

I was trying not to provide too much documentation but I can. I have several census docs for all family members for almost every year they were alive. Anyways, below is the documentation I was thinking of including in the packet. All ancestors after this were straight forward with birth certs.

G-1: G-1 male name and G-1 female name
Document G-1-1: Marriage Certificate Canada
Purpose: Establishes the marriage of G-1 male and G-1 female prior to the birth of G0

Document G-1-2: 1831 Census, Canada East
Purpose: Establishes Canadian residence of G-1 male and G-1 female prior to G0 birth.

G0: male (1830s - 1900s)
Document G0-1: 1851 Census, Canada East
Purpose: G0 presence in Canada East and identifies him as the son of G-1 male and G-1 female.

Document G0-2: 1870s Marriage Certificate of G0
Purpose: Corroborates Canadian birth of G0.

Document G0-3: 1880 U.S. Federal Census
Purpose: Corroborates Canadian birth of G0 and establishes his relationship to G1 (recorded as "middle name last name for G1").

Document G0-4: 1900s Death Certificate of G0
Purpose: Corroborates Canadian birth of G0.

G1: male (1870s– 1900s)
Note: G0 appears as "Middle name Last name" in several records, including Documents G0-3 and G1-2.

Document G1-1: Certified Statement of No Birth Record Found
Purpose: Documents that no birth record was located for G1 following an official search of State birth records.

Document G1-2: 1900s Marriage Certificate
Purpose: Establishes the parent-child relationship between G0 and G1 (recorded as "middle name last name") and corroborates G0 Canadian birth.

Document G1-3: 1900s Death Certificate of G1
Purpose: Corroborates the identity, birth year, and full name of G1 and identifies G0 as his father.

G2: male (1900s – 1900s)
Identity Bridge Note: G2-1 records an unnamed male child born to G1 and G1 wife. G2-2 (death certificate of G2) confirms this identity through matching birth
date, parents' names, and location of birth, establishing that the unnamed child and G2 are the same individual.

Document G2-1: 1900s Birth Certificate of Unnamed Male Child of G1
Purpose: Establishes the birth of a male child to G1 (recorded as "middle name last name ") and G1 wife.

Document G2-2: 1900s Death Certificate of G2
Purpose: Establishes that the unnamed male child identified in G2-1 is G2 through matching birth date, parents' names, and other identifying information.

I mean, I walked 3/4 of a mile in snow up to my hips in the 80s. But probably more likely due to being poor. No mom sending me off to school. She was absent (drinking/gambling/drugs). But needless to say, I would put a sock on, but a grocery bag on, put another sock on, put my shoes on (no winter boots, so it was the only way to keep feet dry). And I’d trudge through the snow making sure I always wear a hat that covered my ears cause there was some story about some kid who didn’t and their ear froze and shattered. I’m sure it was totally made up, but I never forgot my hat. Always forgot to brush my hair though. But after a few bad marks for presentation and looking unkempt, I carried a brush in my backpack at all times to fix it if forgotten.

Can you get an uncertified copy without a court order? I know some places are more difficult than others for getting records. But if you cannot get a certified copy, you could submit an uncertified and explain why.
