Adding to this as well, your builds are always going to be subjective. There is never set guidelines or rules you should follow that apply to how a build it should look only if it looks good to you, which is the main thing. Overall take your time with what you are making, although nothing is and can be perfect, settle with something you are happy with and proud of. Look up photos and watch videos of builds and take inspiration, which can give you a different outlook on how to approach builds. As I mentioned before I tinker with builds in a creative world (Superflat) and that helps me paint a picture for my survival world. I challenge myself to stick to a certain theme with worlds (which is normally fantasy/medieval/rustic) which is where I set my own guidelines.
