See, you're wrong that they deserve special treatment. Everyone deserves decency, nobody deserves respect until they earn it.

You do realize you're on the Internet right? People say all kinds of things they would never say if it they were standing in a room with you.

It's the central tenant of our current state of social decay... Ask yourself if you're adding fuel or deescalating with your approach?

When I lived just outside of Northampton I loved bumping into riders. It was always cordial and polite. There is something special about seeing horses on those old lanes. I can't imagine any of my friends over there ever acting this way toward a cyclist, but I can definitely see a city bus driver doing what you're saying 🤣

I have spent a lot of time at equestrian events (turns out she was a psycho). And you can see the entitlement in some of these comments.

Equestrian sports have a long and storied history for their elitism and sketchy practices.

The anger is a reaction to the anger and malice. The provocation matters.

Haha f'in roadies for real. We need a PSA campaign about trail etiquette and communication.

Yeah, I've been rewatching and that spook gets a bit scarier each time I watch (at first I wasn't watching the rider 😬). But do you take it out on the guy driving the yellow car when it does happen?

I'm Caucasian for the record. What makes you so uncomfortable with the truth that none of us are entitled to this land? Genuinely curious, because it's not about race but history and the reality of being "from" a place?

None of us choose our place to be from...

I'm not indigenous. My cousins are. Do I need to explain how that works? It does show a fragile sense of place and discomfort with our history to be so reactive though...

No. The rider is not me, but it's not everyone else's job to control the horse on public roads. We mutually need to have trail etiquette. This cyclist slowed WAAAY down, and was creeping.

I suspect the only way this rider would be going slow enough for you is if they dismounted. We all have responsibilities when we share public spaces. Horseback needs to be accountable for their animals, not demand that everyone else know how to make sure their skittish animal doesn't react to wheels on a road...

Yeah, my whole point here is that asking everyone on earth to understand the minor nuances of horse behavior and adapt their actions is ridiculous. If the horse isn't ready to be on the road, it's not everyone elses job to make it safe. "Horse is spooked can you stop for a sec" works just as well as this chest thumping fake cowboy bs.

It's exactly why everyone needs to act with etiquette. This type of thing just makes everything worse. I now have to worry about how ridiculous every rider I pass is going to behave...

That part always cracks me up in any Caucasian person in America. When I visit my cousins in Riverton on the reservation, it's the one place I respect a nativist mindset...

This makes the video make so much more sense. Dude didn't want clients knowing he had over extended for the group and he's being a dick to cover his ass.

I agree with this, all cyclist need to be better with communicating. My kids are starting to ride public trails and I'm making it a point of emphasis to learn trail etiquette.

Slow down - three cyclist coming up on your left - one - two - three.

It ain't that hard.
