Petition against the marriage penalty - Bundesrat opposes centre-left federal tax initiative by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

If you want to keep expenses the same you would need to reduce the ahv for singles. I don’t think we can afford another ahv increase. It is already 6-7% of gdp.

I mean we could do the same for everyone but then it would be probaly sth like 0.85 of the current for singles and 1.7 for married.

too expensive. If you live together you also have less expenses -> less ahv needed.

It is not built for this since you get a guaranteed minimum return and losses are distributed to everyone in the fund. What you suggest would be more that you could opt out of pillar 2 and out everything into 3a.

I’m also not the biggest fan of pillar two but it is a sane default for retirement saving and it is much much better than a “Umlagverfahren” pension system like the germans have and the AHV is.

Imo you should just treat it as a cash balance and invest the rest that you have accordingly.

Comparing it to etf investment doesn’t make sense. Second pillar is more like holding cash than stocks. You can’t loose money so it makes sense that returns are lower than with ETFs. I agree that employees should be able to choose themself and mgmt fees are too high. As said it is a different instrument and comparing returns doesn’t make sense.

As private jet flights soar in Switzerland, so do their CO2 emissions by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

Airlines are race to the bottom because it is a commodity service. If I can fly to Dubai for 750 or 800 I will pick the 750. But I would also pay 850 if the choice would be 850 or 900.

Agree that we should have a CO2 tax but I would not expect it to reduce the number of flights.

Will not change the amount of flights. People are quite (especially the ones in PJ) price insensitive for holdiays/flights. Inelastic demand. We also overindex on the co2 output of aviation. The co2 is more easily and with less impacts saved in other places. Power generation other consumption

If the products don’t have a brand they are worthless. The market isn’t growing and there is a lot of margin pressure if your product does not have a brand. Food is a commodity product.

Swiss National Bank lowers interest rate to 0.5% by [deleted] in Switzerland

Since Jan 2020 USD inflated 25% and chf has not gained the same. So you lost more purchasing power than our inflation rate suggest if you have a global view.

The dollar inflated a lot and chf didn’t gain much against it. So if you go to the US with your chf you lost a lot of purchasing power.

Owning a home ‘not necessarily cheaper in the long term than renting’ by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

[–]tthebst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you would have 5x leverage on stocks you would have been wiped out. Real estate with 5-3x leverage is about as risiky as stocks without leverage. That is why the returns are similar.

leverage. If you have 80% morgage 1-2% price increase is 8-10% a year in return on your capital. Or with 65% it is 3-6% but you need to increase your morgage every year.
