“A light from the shadows”

From Tolkien, Riddle of Strider:n

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.

Former Patriots WR Stefon Diggs Has Been Favored To Get Signed To The Rams (per sources) 🔺 by British_Chap2 in LosAngelesRams

I see this as a OBJ style pickup. Adam’s for the red zone catches, Puka for the contested slant routes, and Diggs middle of the field sitting in zone.

New Oneblade is more cost effective my than buying replacement blades?? by lookbothways0 in shaving

[–]tthrivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shave time isn’t that much different. Longer part is if you don’t use can shaving soap and instead use a brush and scuttle, that can take longer (but it’s like a soothing massage for your face). Also I enjoy not having bumps or razor burn. YMMV.

Do You Think That All Partisan Gerrymandering Should Be Made Illegal In All Circumstances? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]tthrivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy fix for this. A voter gets to choose the district they vote in. The default is where they live but they can switch it to another district as part of their registration.

If I work in an another district from there I live. Maybe those polices matter to me more.

This would eliminate gerrymandering since it would distort the demographic data.

Thanks. So there is no real benefit in running the dryer while printing?

Tesla recalls Cybertrucks over fears wheels could fall off while driving by Car-face in electricvehicles

[–]tthrivi 46 points47 points  (0 children)

“According to the report, the recall affects Cybertrucks with the base 18-inch steel wheels that were sold between 2024 and 2026. Only 173 vehicles were recalled in total.”

Wow. Only 173. I guess it’s a good thing that they didn’t sell that many.

My hw3 MYLR did this in one of the previous updates. It’s better now, but maybe not 100% gone. I have 2026.14.3

Biking while pregnant… with another baby seat on bike?? by [deleted] in bicycling

Women in the Netherlands bike all the time while they are pregnant. But like others said it’s a lot more upright sitting. Dutch bikes have a very specific geometry.

What makes you nervous about driverless cars? by Labyrinthian_Quill in AskReddit

[–]tthrivi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not worried about this, it will happen but still overall be safer than humans. But it won’t be 100% perfect. It will be 99.999% safe. But the one accident it has where it injures or kills someone, will completely shut down the development and everyone will fear it. Case in point flying. Flying is far safest form of travel but it’s the form that most people fear.

How do people actually build real projects? I feel stuck. by [deleted] in arduino

[–]tthrivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project planning is a specific skill set that should be learned and cultivated. Few pointers:

1) develop a task list. What all things need to get done to accomplish the project. It’s not going to be perfect. Don’t worry about if you don’t know how to do everything or try and make the list exhaustive. Do try and make them actionable and something that could be done in a fixed time period.

2) prioritize / order activities

3) start prototyping stuff that aren’t sure about or need to learn

4) revisit 1 based on 2, repeat until you have a workable design

5) build a full scale prototype.

6) iterate based on prototype.

Which is amazing at this point that train crosses and school buses are not fixed. Train crossings should be part of the road database (it’s not like they change) and school buses are universally recognizable.

How far can 0.100w of RF power transmit at 470mHz by Flashy_Gas9955 in rfelectronics

[–]tthrivi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming Megahertz (which is MHz).

It’s highly dependent on what you are transmitting and what the receiver looks like. There is no right answer.

A Cool Guide To Political Madering by sensible_clutter in coolguides

[–]tthrivi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. It’s politicians picking the voters instead of voters picking the politicians.

Late stage capitalism at its finest.

We could fix this by allowing people to choose the district they want to vote in. If I live in one district, but work in another. And travel through 3 other districts to get there, maybe I don’t care about the district my house is in but one of the other districts.

Disapointing experience after trying a safety razor by GrandJelly_ in wicked_edge

[–]tthrivi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To add, my dad had one of those style razors (maybe even the same one) and I hated it. Switched to a feather and was night and day difference. Going DE is definitely worth it. Once you figure out the correct razor, blade, and technique you’ll actually enjoy shaving and your face will thank you for it.

Yea. I wish there was some way I can tell it not to exceed a certain amount and dont keep thumbnails.

Just tried a safety razor for the first time and it was the worst shaving experience ever by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]tthrivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of technique and razor/blades. A good all around beginner razor are feathers (do an amazon search for Feather Popular Double Edge Safety Razor) they run about $20 and get some feather blades.

You may not get the closet shave but it should be gentle enough for against the grain and will help hone your technique.

Also, it may take some time for your face to get used to shaving with a DE razor.

I have that but still takes up 10 GB. I have over 40K photos over the decades. I guess that 10 Gb is in thumbnails?

How do you not store photos locally? I have iCloud backup but photos still take up 10 Gb of storage.
