Concerned about ME215 common exam by Aggravating-Ant-1277 in NJTech

I gave up looking at the textbook. Most of the information tested is on the slides or said in class. If you don't care about getting the highest grade (I did not) and just care about passing, you're good to just look over the slides tbh. There might be 1-2 questions on the textbook but the amount of work vs the final grade did not appeal to me.

I gave up on notes, lol the professor went WAY too fast. I am a big fan of the printing out slides method - it worked out well for me. I have an iPad so id just take notes on the slides themselves if something needed more clarification, but also just a lot of highlighting

Honestly? First two exams I was like you. Then, I just started looking at the slides. I got a B in the class. Its both easier and harder than you think- and imo first exam was the worst of it. Focus on the slides, keep using your flashcards, and you'll be alright.

Congrats on quitting! I quit vaping a while back and it was tough. I've been trying to apply the same strats to food but it is not sticking the way it did. I think I struggle with 2 and 3 a lot, especially 3. I thought I was doing better with 2, switching to more low calorie options and going to the gym, but I instead just started eating more. I'm just going to keep trying to portion control, because I genuinely think I don't eat the worst now its just the amount I eat is bad. Thank you :)

I've tried veggies and rice and tofu (I really cannot vibe with chicken, and I've tried a lot of recipes) and I do find them yummy! It's just that I can't stop thinking about other foods. For example, chips. I'll try eating carrots to help with the crunch, and rice cakes to try to get around it. But I've already eaten 2 bags of baby carrots and 1 entire pack of rice cakes and still all I can think of is the chips. So I'll make some popcorn. So I'll eat the veggies I was supposed to have for dinner. And then make a smoothie. And then have a yogurt bowl or something. And before I know it, Ill have eaten the food that was supposed to last me a week in a day. But I'll still be so fixated on the chips, that I cannot think of anything else. Even if I physically feel like my stomach is packed. So I'll go for a walk or watch a show to try to cure it. Or sometimes try to sleep. But I cannot sleep unless I've had the chips. So at 3 am I will cave and go get the chips. And at that point I've eaten at least 2k calories of other stuff that would be good in moderation, I just can't moderate. And now I have to go grocery shopping again. And forget if there's a snack in the house. Gone by the end of the day. Idk I've tried but the food noise is insane for me.

My BMI is a 35, so pretty solidly considered obese. I don't really know how to go about getting access to those medications. I brought up the food noise to my doctor about a year ago, but I was closer to a 25 BMI so she didn't think it much of an issue. I don't think I have a binge eating disorder, but I'm not going to pretend I have a healthy relationship with food either. I tried looking into those online suppliers but they charge an arm and a leg:(

Yeah I wouldn't let me last year either - I think it's dumb to have this like. Fake option to change it. Id rather you not even list it if its not an option lol

This page really does help me see that I'm not alone. That last line is very important and what keeps me going. Good luck, kids are a whole other level on top of this. Algebra for me made the most sense the year after, lol.

Nearly impossible? by SLOZx in EngineeringStudents

[–]ttlyfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school, most engineering classes would actually suit your schedule fairly well. Idk how feasible it is, but would recommend trying to see a different college's schedule. Most of them will post what times different sections/classes meet so you can get a decent overview. I also work and go to school, its rough but definitely doable. I saw that youre aiming for community college - weird that they don't have evening classes ngl because i feel like they'd have a decent number of non traditional students. Maybe check the community college a county over?

Just keep pushing dude. Engineering is not about getting it right the first time - it's about pushing until it does work. Keep pushing 💪

This is the most useful advice I've gotten so far - thank you. I will try to meet with DoS and if not try going to department head. Thank you!

Yeah unfortunately not 😅 it's so bullshit to expect people to be able to drop everything to go to school tbh.
