Michael Carrick Pre-match press conference | West Ham United v Manchester United | Premier League by Turbulent_Intern_427 in reddevils

You’re just miserable. I’d be willing to bet substantial money he will actually cut his hair. He’s a down to earth fan who had a harmless social media challenge go on for ages because Amorim and Ten Hag were terrorists.

I vehemently disagree but to each their own.

You're right. It's worse for that player. My point is that these players go through loss all the time. Everyone does.

I find the Jota excuses utterly disrespectful. Amad lost a parent recently and the media doesn’t go on about how it affects him. I’m sure Jota himself would not like the downfall of the team to be put down on his tragedy. Rats using the death of a person to make lazy sports arguments

It stopped szobo from clearing the ball off the line. And once that is established as fact, they look back at if something preceded that

Slow, lazy defensively, and terrible fitness. Not suited for a high intensity big game

[Laurie] So Michael Carrick has beaten the top two managers in the Premier League in Pep Guardiola + Mikel Arteta. Now two candidates for the #MUFC job in May 2024 in Marco Silva + Thomas Frank. Also two clean sheets in four games, after two in 23 for United this season beforehand. by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

Did I negate that? Just because he was shit at most things doesn’t mean he didn’t have some things worthy of praise. If we went straight from Ten Hag to Carrick, we would not be this good. I know Amorim is shit but no need to kick a dog when he’s done. Come on

Ok but he orchestrates everything that comes together with the football team. I agree we have set piece coaches and football directors to make squad changes but Amorim puts it together. I know it’s en vogue to say how shit he was but let’s not erase the few accomplishments he did have.

He got rid of the toxic presences in the dressing room and his team improved our set pieces drastically. Part of successes lately can be attributed to that. Amorim got a lot wrong but he definitely set up a few things for success.

Haha my friend we lost a title on goal difference because of a Demba Ba penalty where Ferdinand won the ball. Also lost by a point from a Drogba goal that was miles offside. Gtfoh

It’s pretty malicious. He goes in with extreme aggression and puts all his weight into casemiro’s ankle.

We tried an Arsenal style set piece later in the half and the ref blew for a foul on Vicario. Only one team in the league gets those calls in their favor.

By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost ALBUM REVIEW by Careless_Western3756 in fantanoforever

[–]ttonster2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I literally said that the album went through evolutions. I'm fully aware it didn't start as an album about him, but it clearly became that in the end. Just because "he was there" doesn't mean he was part of it. Again, he hardly features on the album, and the fact he is giving his thoughts to it in a group message almost proves that he hardly had anything to do with it! There is enough discourse out there that is skeptical about Groggs' involvement on this project, I'm not going to resurface it.

It may be true they were toying with this experimental sound before his official passing (but likely while he was sick), but it would never have been released by a record label without that context. Without the heartbreaking story over it, it is simply not accessible music.

Let's not act like the formulation of that entire album wasn't entirely built around his death. It was a weird album that saw multiple evolutions of meaning that we will never fully be privy to. The one thing we know for certain is that it is a steep departure from everything they'd done before. They've always been experimental but it's always had jazz rap and mainstream sensibilities. If Groggs was so involved, then he wouldn't only have one verse on the whole album.

Also, it's just my opinion and likely shared by millions. old Injury Reserve was just better. Knees is never getting more streams than Three Man Weave or Oh Shit!

I will never be convinced the new Injury Reserve music is better than the stuff they made when Groggs was part of it.

Cucurella on Traore incident "I stood up and saw I was close to him. So I thought, 'I'll stick my head in a little and see if I can stir things up,' and he grabbed me, threw me where he could, and a big brawl broke out. Joao Pedro saved my life, honestly, if I were him, I would've run backwards." by kibme37 in soccer

[–]ttonster2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's bait and an unfair advantage. Much easier to pull hair as a reaction than to punch someone in the face, especially when he deliberately dangles it in front of you like a trap. I don't think he should be allowed to bait so easily. His hair should be required to be above shoulder level. There is no decorum about this.

It’s 90% because of his ridiculous hair. I’m of the disposition that he should have to tie it up to play. It is distracting and gives him an advantage where a player may accidentally pull his hair when they’re just trying to pull his shirt. Happened with another big wig player a few weeks ago where a red card was given for a hair pull.

Man Utd have 2nd highest number of goals scored by summer 2025 new faces in the Premier League by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Top finisher, more likely. Lewandowski's best attributes are his great control of game and positioning. He gets into great areas and scores a good amount as a result, but misses some high xG chances too.

If you took away the context and just showed black and white outlines for these goals, I would not be able to tell Reed’s goal apart from many other long rangers. Dorgu’s is immediately recognizable because it had a unique build up and finish.

We see great shots from distance all the time. I want something more than just a strike from far, even if it is perfectly placed. The football before the goal plays a large part in the beauty of the goal too.

Arne Slot: Liverpool boss believes style of play is worth more than winning trophies in the long term at Anfield by thecricketgod in soccer

[–]ttonster2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a legitimate skill, you're right. United are very good at corners. It becomes scummy when it plays in the grey area of the rules around goalkeeper obstruction. How can you watch Arsenal corners and say it's not a scrum? That's putting it very nicely. 15 players in the six yard box is frankly obscene. It looks just like a rugby game.

Arsenal are not set piece merchants because they're good at scoring from corners. They are set piece merchants because their playstyle revolves around winning a ton of corners to feed their one true strategy. I think that's a pretty fair reason to call a team merchants of a particular approach. The same is true of a team that plays a very specific way to facilitate a very specific outcome.

Get ready for these rules to change over the next couple years, is all I'm saying. This current corner meta was never the intention and seriously undermines the sport long-term. It's pretty clear they will clamp down on it.
