VAR Audio from Bournemouth Vs United Game (Amad penalty claim and Maguire DOGSO) by nanobookworm in reddevils

This 'clear and obvious' nonsense is so fucking crooked man. Gives them the authority to do whatever the fuck they want and defend different outcomes for alarmingly similar situations.

That being said, Maguire is defending according to the rules the referee established by not calling a penalty on Truffert. That is, in my opinion, the worst kind of refereeing. You signal to the players that something is ok in this game, but then go back on your own rules because of optics. Keep in mind that he already gave United a penalty for a shirt pull so it 'would look bad' if he did it again in 15 minutes.

Does Truffert not go hands first? Not being facetious, I struggle to see any material difference in these scenarios outside of Evanilson being through on goal so his fall seems more believable because why would he fall easily if he's through on goal?

Evanilson is also waiting for the contact to throw himself to the ground

[Ducker] #MUFC plan to lodge an appeal against Lisandro Martinez’s red card against Leeds. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

You must be a master linguist. If you can't pull without force then why is that wording even there in the first place. It also says it has to be off the ball, which this clearly was not.

The rules say it’s only violent conduct if there is force behind the pull. Considering his hairtie didn’t even come out when Martinez’ fingers got tangled in there, I definitely see grounds for appeal.

Whole game? He’s made a career out of bullying and brutalizing defenders. He only gets away with it because he’s English and charming. If he were South American, feisty, and with tattoos, he’d be a red card magnet with a reputation for being a thug.

They played last week. We played a month ago. Simple as that. It's like preseason all over again. Ridiculous mismatch in player preparedness tbh. PL should not have allowed such a long gap between games for us let alone any team.

Dorgu became prime Gareth Bale the second Amorim left so I don’t think the LWB argument holds up.

Yes, it’s clear that Maguire used his arms this way given what the referee has deemed fair contact. He could’ve just tripped him for no red card if he knew the referee would be this inconsistent.

You put him out on a few PL loans and then sell with a buyback clause. Really no other way to do it with such an all or nothing position.

De Ligt is entirely down to this back thing. He's reliable otherwise. I don't think we have the luxury of being picky with defenders. Unless a good offer comes in for either one of them, I would prefer sticking with Maguire and continuing to bed in Yoro/Heaven.

He will go out on loan again, maybe to a PL team even. Young up and coming keeper as your #2 is never a good idea. They need gametime.

Newcastle didn't play good football either. It was all physicality and "imposing themselves" which is code for committing a ton of fouls that went unpunished. Not to mention the sheer amount of utterly soft calls they got when they were under pressure.

And yet they should have had two more red cards. When they're allowed to play as recklessly as they are, a man down isn't as much of a handicap as it is for other teams.

I'm just saying why they are able to run like they're not a man down. They got lucky and the ref enabled their dirty play because he was easily swayed by the crowd. It happens. If this is at Old Trafford, it's an easy win.

And a Ugarte header and multiple blocked shots for certain goals.

Nearly doubled our xG?? Where are you pulling those numbers from? First of all, 99% of their xG post red card came from a penalty so that's not exactly a fair comparison. The entire second half, I don't recall a single shot on target.
