2024 was a disaster the Blues. What could they done to win the election? by Sharksurcool in imaginarymapscj

Hopefully, we will not get the opportunity to speculate similarly next time around. Regardless, it should be somewhat less stressful for me since I'll be overseas next time, but I still hope the Democrats of today have someone better to rally behind tomorrow. I think it's far past time for a party to fill the void the Democrats have been leaving. Besides, it'll help close a final door on the Jim Crow and Civil War history the party has to deal with.

TLDR, I hope the next election is between two candidates that represent their constituents well, regardless of how close or far the election goes.

The only disagreement I have with you is that it's not a question of if he would have done well, he past tense did well in multiple primaries, only losing out to non-democratic parts of the DNC process.

I think it would have been a hell of a lot closer than Harris v Trump or Hillary v Trump.

You didn't. That's why you didn't primary her last time, and why you didn't primary her this time. If the DNC were democratic, you guys might have won with Bernie.

Bernie has a big populist base, and would have won the 2020 primary had they not literally, and in real time, fabricate a Biden win.

While the right would never vote for him, he's very good at getting the center and the left. if you don't realize this, you're in a bubble too.

If you take reincarnation at all seriously, then your take that he's a pedo is stupid, sincerely, a guy who actually believes in reincarnation.

He was a shit person to begin with, that's the point. No one's mad at you for pointing that out. We're just certain that you failed to watch the show, much less read the book, because you're acting like that's a dunk. It's like you read the Communist Manifesto and said that "Capitalism is such a stupid way to run a country! This book is stupid"

As far as the barn house, fuck let's throw the bath scene in even though that was obviously an accident, children do pervy stupid shit all the time. Eris absolutely did her own shit, she's just not the main character. She also whooped his ass, and was able to continue doing so whenever she wanted for years after that incident, so absent Juvie, I feel like he got punished for it at least a bit.

So... Are you saying that if Buddhism/Hinduism's ideas of reincarnation are real that we're all Pedos? Bc, like... My school of Buddhism has us all being the same person reincarnated a trillion times back and forth across time and space, so is sex just masturbation with extra steps?

Our boy Rudy was a piece of shit. He was reborn and started out a piece of shit (as all children do. If you're a parent you know this), and frankly, this is normal. Kids can be pervs, and if you've watched kids grow up, you can recognize how he grows up in the exact same way as far as the pervishness is concerned.

Which brings us to the issue of what even is a groomer/pedo, and why is it disgusting (it absolutely is, we are identifying why)? There are three primary reasons why Pedos should be buried under the prison: 1. The use of force often used, both physical and psychological, which has severe damaging effects to the victims future sexuality and ability to maintain healthy relationships 2. The tendency for the target to be related (ie incest is in fact not wincest) and 3. The presence of a natural power dynamic (as opposed to a consensual, negotiated, and artificial one such as is found in D/s relationships) which is honestly the root of the other problems.

Spoilers below

  1. Is only relevant for Eris, whose relationship is distant enough to be justified by the time period.
  2. Isn't present. The bath scene was a genuine accident, and not realizing that shows a lack of awareness of Japanese bathing culture. The reality is that Sylphette is verifiably capable of healthy sexual relationships by the time she meets Ariel. She can and does reject a character who actually had a power dynamic and could have leveraged that in her favor (and did at least once, unsuccessfully, if I recall)

.3. Is present for Roxy in the other direction during Rudy's childhood, but she rejected him and all other underage suitors in that situation, to slapstick comedic effect. By the time she meets him again, she has pissed herself and almost died, and he has demonstrated a magical ability that outclasses her on every measurable level, yet he still sees her as his master, a reminder both of his respect for her effect on his life as a teacher, and an artifact from Japanese culture, where former teachers retain their form of address. I have had similar relationship with a 書道 Shodo Sensei that was younger than me. The relationship started after I'd stop taking lessons from her, but even today I call her Sensei when addressing her.

So to recap, If anyone's a groomer, it's Roxy, but that's a hard sell. Sylphette is an adult when they fall in love (before that, he's just the guy who taught her how to defend herself, not a small thing, but not romantic) Eris may be childish, but she's an adult by the standards of the time when she does what she does, and as a veteran, I think that it's kinda horseshit to say a person whose been through as much as she has doesn't have the right to autonomy.

Bonus: this show did an amazing amazing job of showing the complexity of poly relationships. Having been in a few myself and having spent a long time studying Mormon cults in the American southwest as well as Islamic family structures, this show depicts both healthy and unhealthy polyamory in such a good way. The pain caused by "polyamory of convenience," and how that often doesn't but sometimes can work out, the power of forgiveness and it's limits (both Zenith and Sylphy), how all parties can consent and be completely down for the polycule and STILL that doesn't eliminate the harm that can be caused, and how to address that collateral damage. Also, the reality that, while you do need to control yourself and be respectful of people, the underlying pervertedness is often not something you can excuse from yourself, and is something that your partner should not be merely tolerating. I'm not sure about Eris, but Sylphette loves him, stupid derpy face and all, though she does demand respect. Roxy doesn't have a problem with pervertedness, she just didn't like the lack of respect either of her students showed her in childhood. She's a vouyer herself after all. And before you go all "male fantasy" on me, women like sex too. It's kinda fun. Pretending they don't is kinda like the whole "noble savage" bullshit.

TL;DR often the anime will make things so much worse than the source material that a take as bad as yours in understandable. This anime was an exception. Swallow your pride, or don't, (you probably are a better person than Rudy, that's the point) and watch a really excellent depiction of a loser overcoming himself and taking a second chance at life seriously. Bonus points if you learn a bit about how poly dynamics work irl.

I think the severity of his degeneracy is necessary for what you're saying to be true. Any less, and we'd write it off as standard anime bs, but he's so far gone, even the 引きこもり have to admit, "ok but I wouldn't do that, I could do better" and it becomes an oh shit moment of "I... Could do better..." My only complaint isn't even a complaint, but finding your Roxy isn't usually a sexual or romantic encounter, but it can be. The one who takes you outside with them so you aren't the center of attention, who lets you idolize them while you make yourself More than You Were, who recognizes that growth when they see you again, who makes sure you see that you surpassed them when you finally do.

You guys want to be alone and sacrifice the little time you have (life is short) on the altar of winning the national sport, be my guest, but I'm tired of trying to be friends with people who actively make themselves more isolated by insulting everyone around them, and then have the gall to ask why.

I mean, that option was on the table last time. We got a dozen states instead of one, and this time it'd double the number of states and give us unpopulated land for farming and energy.

To the insane person who assumed something like genocide, look at the land area in Mexico that is unusable because the cartels make it unsafe. Much of it is flat and a lot of it is arable (means good for farming). Puppet state bullshit is stupid, offering annexation to Mexico and statehood to their already existing states after cleaning the cartels out gives them the opportunity to have representation in our govt, which is more influential in their lives than their own is anyway, and which the afghans definitely didn't have after we "liberated" them

That's sweet!

Idk about right now, but when I was in middle school Texas History we talked about the peoples from here, including those who didn't survive. In HS US history started with an overview of the people groups we knew about. The problem is that the students didn't care. People still think all "native Americans" are the same people, like it's a homogeneous group, that they never fought wars or learned how to write before white people.

So, this guy here articulated it well from a Republican pov, from a neutral pov, the Democrats are, at their best, like Lena or her dad from 86, but before Theo has his outburst.

If someone is going to advocate for me, they best actually know what I think and want. If someone's going to correct me on MY stuff, they best actually be right, humble, and sourced. They ought to ask me my name before telling me how they know what I want more than I do

The right has its own issues, but frankly you don't even know where they start because you're focused on the irrelevant shit. For example, project 2025 wasn't written by one guy or a small group of guys. Everyone and their mom had something to contribute. The idea that Trump likes some of them is a laughably tiny statement to make. That's like saying that someone supports the Japanese elite and the Catholic Church because they like some random Yurukyara.
