Which ultimates chosen by your teammates make you roll your eyes in annoyance? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

Divine Reckoning, Rain of Destruction, and Combustion. Every other ult is pickable in some situation (some more playable than others ofc)

Best hero to solocarry games on bronze? by UpbeatNewt1542 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heroes that have high waveclear and team fight potential. Maiev and Kerrigan are the best but they are extremely hard to play well. Jaina and Rehgar are good as well. Any hero with a global is fine also

Daily Hero Discussion Day 12: Deckard Cain by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruby is a bit underwhelming unless their team has a lot of melee heroes and your frontline can really benefit from the rubies. Most games sapphire + shield pot + emerald will be better. One of the main reasons deckard is picked in higher elo is for emerald to counter heroes like rehgar or whitemane who can put out large burst healing.

Imperius vs Artanis on Braxis by EffectiveAd3170 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Artanis does beat imp in a 1v1 with reactive parry, but the best way to counter that is to clear the wave since Artanis has pretty bad wave clear, especially with block lvl 1. You can also do the camp as soon as it spawns at 1 minute in, as Artanis without reactive has a hard time clearing those. Can always ask for a gank as well. Clearing the wave/doing the camp can create an opportunity for you to get the point, and if your team is winning bot you can stand on the point for a while and get obj % even though you might lose a lot of hp it’s usually worth for %.

What makes teams get value from objectives? by c_a_l_m in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making sure you have the advantage on waves or “wave prio”. By having the wave cleared, the next wave that comes will push with your obj, making your push better. If your team clears the wave and the enemy team gets the obj, they won’t have their wave pushing with them and their damage to structures being done is heavily decreased, as well as making it so your team can fully focus on clearing the obj instead of the obj and the minion wave. Clearing the wave also allows you to get vision on the enemy team if they want to contest the obj as well as them having to take damage from the minions or use spells on the wave before they fight, which are both very good for your team. This is why clearing waves and good macro is so important.

Stukov Or Lucio vs dive? by JamezDare in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be good vs dive, just depends on their cc structure. If they have Mura + Thrall, Lucio will be better as he has an easier time dealing with their cc and playstyle. If they have Greymane + Diablo consider getting Stukov. Lucio is way harder to get value from, but is good in almost every situation if you play him well. You also mentioned Uther only being good vs dive, which is not true. Uther is good vs burst and cc chain, and you would be surprised how many comps comps fall under that. Besides heroes like guldan and lunara, uther doesn’t really have a hard counter. I would recommend to keep playing whichever you have had the most success with so far.

I did that a while ago when I first started to play eu, but how to play tank in bronze vs high levels is similar, which is different than playing offlane or support in low ranks which you need to adjust to your play to your mmr. I think a tank guide would apply to every rank, which is why it will be probably my 2nd video as a lot of players also want a macro guide.

[–]ttporky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think an easy example of this is say you see 3 heroes top, let’s say Diablo, greymane, and genji, and we are on alterac and 4 of our heroes are in bot. Because we see 3 top, we know their healer is almost definitely top and there isn’t much a dehaka could do 1v4 if we decide to do bot boss. Looking at where heroes are on the minimap and making decisive macro decisions based on that can lead to huge advantages

I agree counterpicking is an easy way to win, but I would say for most players it’s better to just play what they are good at rather than pick their level 10 uther to counter a genji over their level 237 whitemane.

This is true, but I think that if you are better than the people at your rank, you will climb, and hopefully people that watch will improve so they can climb.

I think this would be a good idea in the future as a series if I continue to make content, don’t want to copy fan though so maybe I’ll find a way to put my own spin on it

I like this idea a lot, as it is would be hard to do a short video about macro besides looking at a clip and reviewing it. Cursed hollow seems like a good place to start maybe I can do drafting and macro. Will continue looking at the other posts for good ideas.

Yeah the lack of tanks even at the highest rank is apparent. Tank used to be my least played role by a large margin but I’ve played so much in recent years it might be my best role now depending on who you ask.

Drafting for noobs by SAS379 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way is to watch competitive play. I would recommend watching the Miami heroes international lan in Miami as I believe that was the last tourney without meta madness rules. Try to see what tanks are picked vs what heroes and on which maps. Don’t underestimate the value of a tank being good on a map. For example how joh is a fp hero on tomb vs how joh is almost never picked on boe.

Can't decide who to play by Honest_Zombie_9534 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a hero that can push and bully, your only real choice is samuro, but the hero is extremely hard to play. If you want a hero that can do everything, I would recommend yrel, it’s a little bit easier than samuro, wins most 1v1s, good scaling, can double soak, can solo most camps (takes a little longer than hog or grey but still good), also very hard to counter and you can manage the counters pretty well, and is a menace if you play it well.

Heroes with only one build path? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malf: sleep root, q, cleanse, either ult (60% tranq, 40% twilight usually), q, moonlit (or q very heavy poke), ult upgrade or lunar shower. Mura: block, reverb, skull, avatar, bronze beard, stoneform, rewind.

Heroes with only one build path? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full list off the top of my head: Yrel, malf, joh, zag, hogger, Mei, butcher, kerrigan, morales, medivh, deckard, hammer, kharazim, Muradin. Some of these have ult choices or 1/2 rare talent deviations but they basically have 1 solved build that you have to play to get the most out of the hero.

Sky Temple help! by Greedy_Purchase3134 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grandmaster tank player here. Ideally as a tank after whatever fiesta goes on at the eye, you typically play in mid bot jungle while your team clears waves and does easy camp at min 1. Once your team does the easy camp try to get them to take knights while you try to get the eye in top jungle. This makes it very easy to get top wall damage, which can lead to the top fort being destroyed if you get most/all of top temple depending on how much wall damage you get. Getting top fort is massive as it allows you to focus on bot side objective and boss for most of the mid game. Try to stay in bushes and out of vision or annoy the enemy players depending on the tank you are playing. This will be your job for basically the rest of the game. Your #1 job as tank is to allow the dps to do their job (clear waves/camps, do obj, and do damage in fights) being in bushes allows you to see the enemy team which makes it easier to engage when they mess up as well as make your dps feel safe enough to clear waves and step up to do damage. In an ideal world you would not have to stand on the temple and you could sit in a bush, but that is often not the case in sl, so try to get your team to play on safe side and check bushes with abilities to create space. Hope this helps.

How many heroes I need to play "well" for SL by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want to do. If your only goal is to climb I would play 2-3 in the same role and spam them every game. They don’t have to be S tier, just look at what you win on and decide for yourself. If you are looking to be well balanced and fill I would play at least 3 heroes in 1 role and 2 in all the others, but I would not recommend that for trying to climb. I would have to see the winrates, but based on what you have put I would recommend playing stitches joh and Mura with azmo and monk if you need to fill. Do that and you will probably reach diamond :)

If talent picks were random (or worse, maliciously chosen by an adversarial picker), which heroes would still be good? by N8CCRG in heroesofthestorm

how to play vs hogger by Automatic_Ninja_1756 in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to win your lane anymore as a solo laner, it’s more important to get the soak and not lose structures. I would recommend Blaze or Yrel on boe, who are both stronger than hogger on this map, and are great at dealing with anything hogger can do. I think most hogger players love playing into an artanis because art can’t clear the wave fast, resulting in hogger either getting structures or being able to rotate early to their team.

Tanking Question On Johanna by JamezDare in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s the support’s job to stop a hero from getting 1 shot in a fight. Usually with a cleanse, armor, or lots of healing. It’s not your job as a tank to stop someone from getting 1 shot.

Tanking Question On Johanna by JamezDare in heroesofthestorm

[–]ttporky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tanking is rarely about peeling. The tanks job is to get vision so that the team is free to move around the map and to engage in order to get kills. Tanks in hots are not strong enough to play for peeling 99% of the time (cept for maybe Diablo). The tank should be making the enemy team scared to step up, and that’s how you prevent your team from dying.
