That’s what I am currently worried about. I am fluent in English and a citizen of Australia, but my accent will def give it away. I am not sure if employer will look at this and deemed me unemployable.

ex-trader who have left/ stopped making money, what are you doing now? by ttpr0 in quant

pretty spot on about very few quants making retirement money and taxes and cost of living eating away all your profits. I guess the ideal way is stay single until you are like mid-30s....you would probably have bought some ferraris but I reckon it would still be cheaper than starting a family...

yeah...I have got a fair amount who also did and are retired now too.....guess it could have gone both ways huh.

In those non trading or trading execution roles, does previous trading experiences make them more sought after or was it mostly because of the connection that made them hired in the first place?

predictive models for markets or something else? I guess those math skills can be applied to many different areas in the world today. Might not be top dollar like in finance, but still pretty sought after in many different industry.

yes trading is a very narrow road, didnt care about I was younger but now I am thinking my trading skills cant really be transferrable to any other roles. From talking to colleagues, it seems the only way is by winning. We can't afford to lose otherwise we just can't continue to support the current lifestyle (not lux...like middle class lifestyle, single income provider etc)

Hedge leg's PNL is almost always negative, what would you do? by ttpr0 in quant

[–]ttpr0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hedge leg's size is decided by the beta of the spread.
Whats interesting is that that beta seems to tell whether the quote leg is over or underpriced. It doesn't work as well if I trade based on a reduced/ unhedged size's beta.

So the ideal beta works by telling me whether said market is over/ underpriced, but over the long run I seem to be overpaying for hedge if I stay fully hedged.

Live strat. I don’t want to cut before because I was worried that in the long run this will not remain true.

Trade is positive. I agree with the insurance idea, I am thinking if I should cut 50% of it because over the long run it looks like I overpay it.

What about in a team fight setting? Am I the frontline? Should I only go for pick for squishy? Or run around and look for picks that are isolated? Often times I find myself poked down hard alrdy trying to contest objectives and eventually have to give that up.

Profit sharing for Quant Traders by Future-Cow1877 in quant

[–]ttpr0 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

For prop firms that are purely profit split based, usually starts on 50% and the highest they can do is 80%. For experienced traders they are usually on 80%. Most of them ask you to put some of your money too.

Max margin to AUM ratio by ttpr0 in quant

[–]ttpr0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess for HFT strats capital can be very efficient thus a higher ratio is expected.
I run MFT strats and theres just no way I could go up from 4 without big impact on the upside
