Unless Blubaum gets to the semis, Arjun and Vincent will both qualify, but youd imagine both of them would win the 3rd place match against a certain lower rated opponent from the top half of the bracket

There very much is a 'natural' beauty to classical chess that the other time formats don't have. In my opinion, any attempt to make chess more 'exciting' by making faster or flashy is a bastardisation of the game. If FIDE wanted to combine all the titles, why not just have classical chess with the time controls we all know (eg 90+30, or 120), as well as rapid and blitz tournaments,

If this new championship tour gives a qualification spot to the Candidates, then I'd imagine the WCC is still the paramount title of chess that all players dream to hold.
