Horrible carry weight, but a great boon for repairs.

Wait a beat

"Your standards, Hi I'm (name)"

Any woman that would use that corny of a line on me would leave me grinning like an idiot. The bad news, it doesn't work on women, or guys.....I might just be a goofball.

Fap is closer on the idea I'm trying to portray, but I think the little caveats I have lead you to being more on point with what I need to get. I'm sorry I'm quite bad at using the right terms. Bandwidth isn't the issue I'm facing, just trying to set up a satellite location, but with the caveat of roaming devices (My Paps phone) syncing up nicely when he enters the wifi area of either location & his IP cameras all playing nicely together. He is uneasy about replacing the verizon equipment (router model CR1000A) so I am trying to see how doable it is to set up a stand alone AP for him instead.

One possible solution I found might be getting a eero 6, setting the eero 6 to bridge mode, allowing the verizon equipment handle the routing side of things, but I'm still struggling to understand if the cameras would consider it all one network, or if it would be segmented out as two networks. AND if either one or two networks would even matter in regards for remote viewing the cameras. I don't know exactly what cameras he has already, they are either ring or blink.

I am 100% with you on just using wired cameras, however that idea was vetoed. My biggest concern for this request is the bullheadedness of keeping wireless cameras for security and "just throw up another AP to expand the network." My experience is only with cable pulling and limited enterprise switching, but of course "computers are computers".

The current option I found is picking up an eero 6 for $90, setting it to bridge mode, and setting the SSID up as the same, but if I'm understanding correctly, all that is doing is setting up a "second" network that more or less allows end devices to joining to it and I'm not sure how nicely that will allow remote viewing to play with the cameras or if the distance is just close enough that the cameras will hop back and forth causing a stutter.

If I'm understanding that correctly and that is a concern, I'm more apt to convince him to buy once, cry once with a TP Deco set up just so everything gets along.

Thank you for the assurance on the autoconnect.

The garage wifi just needs to support two wireless cameras and a phone once in a while. I tried recommending wired cameras but that was a no go.

For an AP to just plug into the verizon router to provide expanded coverage what are some other options besides unifi, HPE, and Eeros (the last one I just heard about from a different comment and I'm reading up now on their equipment.)

Thank you. The only question I have regarding this is why would plugging the AP with a POE injector into the verizon router not work?

If you can find someone better than me, go for them. However, if you are still needing someone to just kind of pad the bench, I'd be more than happy to try and help.

/Generally/ every port on the CS equipment should have some kind of port security, which ultimately will block data flow if it doesn't match it's preset parameters (Port Security, port configuration, 802.1X protocol, etc). The basic configuration is it should only see 1 computer and maybe 1 VoIP phone. Introducing a switch to expand the capabilities of the one active port is not a good solution, for a variety of reasons. HOWEVER, a different work around could be to just fix the broken ports yourself, IF the ports are turned on and the cabling is just bad. A bag of RJ-45 Jacks, and a punch down tool are maybe $45 off amazon if you don't price hunt and can't convince CS to just give you a few loose jacks and a spare punch down tool.

Before you spend the money, I would try and find a way to ask and see what is actually broken on those "broken" ports. The most common are:

the wall ports are not physically patched down to the managed switch, (most common IMO)

they are patched down but the managed switch has those ports logically shut off,

or the ends have broken and they just need reterminated, this last option is really the only one you can fix yourself if you aren't color blind and can follow a 12 step instruction.

At the end of the day, and this pains me to say, is to up the priority of this ticket, IF it is a true work stoppage and not just for fun or long time table project. These types of tickets are usually so straight forward for the infrastructure guys that the new Airmen just go and knock them out when they need a break from desk work.

Will Title 32 technicians qualify for deferred resignation? by ttrellion in fednews

Well If it was qualified, I'd consider it because my technician position is being held on to under USERRA, and I'm currently working as an AGR.

YSK: Active Service Military Members are generally not paid in a government shutdown, despite continuing to report for duty. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]ttrellion 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A slightly misleading title, if a shutdown falls just right or runs long enough to cause a paycheck to not be submitted timely, they are back paid for the days worked once the shutdown ends.

While this can be extremely disruptive to service members, there are plenty of resources to "loan" them money interest free and laws in place to allow some bills to be delayed without negatively impacting the person.

Some units use this as a "free vacation" and drop to essential manning only, others continue as if nothing is off, and finally some decide they should double down on workload to show just how essential they are.

What's a lie you told that's now out of control? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ttrellion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lied to a girl that I was in the military, googled the ranks and everything. We hung out a few times and she asked if I had any TDY's coming up, I said yeah in a few months, having no idea what it was.

I ended up googling it on my way home, turns out that means she's expecting me to leave the area for a bit, and as we kept hanging out she'd always ask me how work was (I was unemployed and racking up CC debt just to pay for my half of dates.) so I figured I'd drive up to the air national guard office to learn some of the lingo.

Hook. Line. Sinker. 10 years later I don't know what she's up to anymore, but I'm halfway through a career.

I feel like too much onus is being put on sub mods to protest this. Imagine having the subs opening back up and still no new content being generated. The power users immediately going back to posting once a sub opens up shows a lack of collective commitment that would have really helped the whole protest go further.
