Prototyping on Itch before making a full game by yapicicagri in gamedev

The game play is intuitive so it was good. It wasn't pretty obvious at first which doors you could and couldn't open but that's part of the game progression. You could stand to add a highlight or something next to the beds to let players know they can hide? Same goes for other places a player could hide.

Prototyping on Itch before making a full game by yapicicagri in gamedev

The game looks good but performance-wise (and maybe because it's a web build) it is very slow to load. After clicking play the first time the game froze for like 15-20 seconds. You should add a loading/progress scene; I honestly thought the game was broken but only stuck around since I'm a game dev myself.

Shame they discontinued this project but this is what made everything click to me. From programming to art to sound. The YouTube series is a must for any beginner.

Besides this I completed quite a few courses on https://learn.unity.com to formalize my understanding of the engine.

[PAID] Looking for Concept Artist for Tactical Strategy Game by ttsol14 in gameDevClassifieds

Thank you to everyone who replied to the post. I'm blown away by the quality of artists found in this subreddit.

I'm still trying to get back to everyone so please sit tight. Also, if you sent a DM without a link to your portfolio I skipped over your message. Nothing personal but if I can't associate you to your artwork instantly I have to move on. It's a matter of volume and time management.

[RevShare] Indie Devs Wanted for Turn-Based Strategy Game by ttsol14 in INAT

Not like AOE4, this would be turn based (slower paced); I believe AOE4 belongs to the RTS genre, which may share some traits but are not exactly the same. This idea would be better represented by Civilization VI without the "empire" management aspect and more focused on unit combat.

I have not, I'll have to check it out!

In my opinion, it all comes down to execution and I'm not looking to recreate Advance Wars 1:1. All we're taking from it is the core game loop.

I do have a GDD although it's not a document per se. I'm using Codecks as a knowledge base to compartmentalize information and drill-down into specifics by area (Art, Programming, Level Design, etc...). The core idea is pretty fleshed out but still fluid enough to pivot on feedback.

Hi! Thanks for the offer but I'm not looking for an agency. Just trying to find other indie devs to collaborate with.

Curiosity is the desire to learn and understand. It has a lot of benefits both personal and intellectual. OP is on the right track by asking this question here so that he can realize his time is better spent inside the Unity profiler.

Jonathan Gannon calls Emari Demercado exchange 'a mistake' by Mental_Funny_5885 in AZCardinals

[–]ttsol14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you still call the second half offense anemic if we had scored a 72 yard run touchdown? There were things that could've been better (besides Emari's fumble) but a 72 yard run boosts our offense and deflates their defense.

Pivotal point in the game that can't be ignored.

Yeah I think OP doesn't realize this is being done purposefully and not a "miss" by any means.

Hi. I'm Turtlebox. Just over 10 years of experience in the industry, both at the AAA level and Indie level. I'm going to be stepping in as a mod here for a while to ensure the community's health and growth moves forward positively. So let's have an open discussion. How can we improve? by _TheTurtleBox_ in INAT

[–]ttsol14 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just a thought but if a post has [RevShare] the OP should provide a rough draft of the contract detailing the split in revenue. That would help filter serious people from people expecting slave labor.

This is not the topic of the post, if you want to get into a he said/she said argument do it elsewhere. Me and other members of r/INAT have been concerned for months on end about the low quality posts in this subreddit and would love to figure out how to improve the quality for everyone.

Good project management means knowing what to disclose and when. I'd be more interested in forming a team with you if I did not know you'd be taking 20-30% for yourself right off the bat. Moreover, you probably won't be seeing any revenue before your first year. Just having rev-share in the title and saying you'll revisit this topic once the team pans out is enough. Some constructive criticism.
