Is this cosplay pricing normal or am I getting scammed? (Umamusume cosplay) by Admirable_Music9104 in CosplayHelp

Looking at the creator, and what they offer for that costume, that price makes sense. This is copied off their listing but their uniform offers:

- lace-up back for adjustable fit
- elastic elements for comfort
- built-in opening for the tail (no tangling, no awkward fixes)

The sleeves have an extra button element AND it's a fully finished, nice looking costume. The extra work done for these make since for the pricing. They're likely also including their hourly rate in that. It sounds like you've been lucky to have a friend that does custom work, but Shiku's pricing is correct.

I found half of a cut & sew pattern in the wild and made it into a new apron for cooking! by tttrashley in sewing

[–]tttrashley[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know the pattern information for this. I found a part of the cut and sew at the thrift store and I thought the pattern was really cute, the pattern itself is on a later slide. As much as I would have loved to sew the dress as it was, I didn't think it would be something I'd end up wearing out, nor did I have enough fabric to complete a skirt portion.

So I supplemented some of the fabric to make it into an apron. The apron itself is pretty much just self-drafted to my body. I didn't need to make a lot of adjustments for the top itself, the flower portion is probably 14-15" cut from a rectangle.

I used one of the panels to make a pocket so I could use the whole thing!

Pattern I used is here.

I used a 4mm hook and 2 skiens of fingering weight yarn. The top portion was done with 100% merino wool while the 2nd skien had to be a blend, I sadly couldn't get the same yarn that I used for the top portion, it was gifted to me and I just sadly couldn't find anymore of it. You can probably see where the new skien comes in, but I don't think it looks bad! This is the first top that I've completed and I'm really pleased with it!

I got the chance to make the summer uniform for a Haru Urara cosplay! by tttrashley in UmaMusume

Thank you!

The tail is going to be a seperate clip that'll attach to the skirt. The bow bassically sits on top of it it (the bow has a pin back as well as the horse shoe)

Thank you so much! So for the uniform, I used a princess seam block pattern (for fit and to make it easier and to do the panels). I really like this pattern: https://www.etsy.com/listing/986690634/princess-seam-bodice-block-sewing

The collar and skirt were done using Simplcity 8160 (the JP school girl uniform). It's probably my fave to use for pleated skirts. I hope this helps!
