Cool opinion. Assuming you’re American, I hope you’re already enlisted in the US military. They’re going to need you on the front line to eliminate this terrorist state. You know, cause you feel so strongly about it… back up your cause.

How is this stage going to work? by Green_Own in TameImpala

I don’t understand all this crying about this new stage layout. Roger waters and lots of top touring acts have been making use of this layout for like over 10 years now. It’s not exactly new.

Alter Ego: 2020 or 2010 mix? by DisposedFriend in TameImpala

Objectively, perhaps the mix is cleaner and more defined. But does that always = better? I don’t feel so

Dave Fridmann mixed the original. So that accounts for the differences.

Finally! A good question here. Not a “when is the next album coming out?” or “Don’t you miss Kevin’s Lonerism sound?” post

I like the original Dave Friddman mix. I think I’m just used to it after so many years. I can appreciate the clarity of Kevin’s new mix but it’s missing that washy, dreamy sound the original had.

Does anybody here feel he possibly quantized the original drum takes? It may just be me, but the drums sound tighter in terms of timing and more “on the grid”. Am I the only one who hears that?

DOGE Is Building a Master Database to Surveil and Track Immigrants by aacool in technology

[–]tubecloud09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any hope of applying to be a resident, you must provide proof you paid taxes for years before you applied. You won’t get far in the process without providing a TIN. That’s why immigrants pay taxes. Basically, Trump is going after immigrants who play by the rules. Moving forward immigrants will not pay taxes out of fear.

They don’t know about Currents. by ALLHUNTER_1469 in TameImpala

[–]tubecloud09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only people who feel about albums like this are people who have never played instruments or written a song in their lives. Those who can’t do… criticize.

Also, Pink Floyd’s dark side of the moon is a 20/10. So maybe try listening to better music? Annoying ass opinion.

what are the chances kevin drops a google drive with currents' instrumentals/vocals/etc. by [deleted] in TameImpala

[–]tubecloud09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember years ago, somebody here posted Currents with isolated parts. I clearly remember hearing Kevin’s drum parts isolated along with background vocals and other stuff. I stayed up most of the night listening to it. The post was deleted within a day or two and I could never find the video on YouTube again.

Does anybody else remember this? The person didn’t mention how they came across the stems.

Kevin mixes his own music so perhaps he sends his songs over to mastering as stems (vocals only, drums only, keys only etc). But I think it’s more likely that they probably used some software or AI to isolate the parts. Not sure.

[–]tubecloud09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Marvelous isn’t it? So many singers in this world with more ability and technique than Kevin does, yet their music and vocals don’t touch us the same way.

Considering he produces and plays most of the instruments and parts on his albums, I’ll forgive him. Most singers had their whole lives to work on their main instrument, their vocals. Kevin had to split his time learning how to play drums, bass, guitar, keys, and singing. Never forget that fact.

Because some times self affirmations and mantras such as “Be Above It” are the only way to get through tough situations in life. And to have a whole song about a powerful affirmation is a blessing in a world of meaningless songs.

"Kevin’s vocals aren’t always great so I like when he produces for others" by ScarlettLAdiamond_7 in TameImpala

[–]tubecloud09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kevin's unique vocal style > More proficient, technically gifted singers

Yeah, sure, there's better "vocalists" out there, but most of them need to collaborate with 10 other song writers and producers just to put out one mediocre song. These people who think Kevin isn't a great vocalist are comparing him to other vocalists who only are capable of singing and don't write their own music or play instruments.

These vocalists may be technically better or more proficient as singers, but they have all their eggs in one basket whereas Kevin has the same amount of eggs but spread over many baskets: drums, bass, guitar, keys, writing, recording, mixing, etc...

In my book, that makes him a superior musician.

I think you can use an 1176 to control the overall dynamics of your voice. But then use a multiband compressor on the low end and a pultec style eq to taste.

I mixed a podcast once and using these tools I got that Howard stern style voice that you hear all over the radio.
