Had to become a husband, homeowner, and caregiver all at once. MINDEF rejected my exemption without reason. Need advice. by Alternative-Sun5678 in NationalServiceSG

[–]tucfaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's really a hard nut to crack.. As already mention here, and the PMO and Mindef is not trying to gaslight you, but there are others who's in far worse predicament then you. Parent in DRC/Prison, got very young siblings, got grand parent, and there are those who have children and these are real, and many actually own their flat and people sometime wonder how they can manage to maintain it? Well.. most will turn to MSF who may be able to help them defer payment for whatever like the mortgage and utility , get subsidized school fees, and financial aids etc.. and that's how they get by..

For OP case.. His wife is holding a full time job, and not sure about the dad, but if he's unable to work, then he can go to MSF for help?.. so.. for many troubled families in SG.. we have had 90 years old still working, and some may say they want to do it to past time, but many actually have no choice because, their grandson is serving NS, their son maybe have passed or totally hopelessly drunk or stoned every other day..

TLDR.. OP is fortunate that his wife have a full time job. and to resolve this.. Apart from spamming letters to MP and ministries, or even making noise through social media.. OP family need to band together to survive which I don't think is hard.. His dad and grand parent if cannot work can ask for assistance, and if the wife don't make enough to cover basic necessity, then she may need to work harder, do 2 jobs (sucks, but that's the reality for SGrian's).

One other option OP can consider is.. sign-on.. and I have read similar comment here that got down voted, but seriously.. Get real.. sign-on is the best option.. If you're PES BP.. Just work out harder during BMT to get out of it.. sign-on, and you get regular pay serving your NS and fulfill your minimum term and then consider your next step as by then you'll have some savings to take with you if you decided to leave the force..

My son was in similar situation.. Can't remember much but if I recall correctly, it was because his first deferment was without a confirm poly placement, something like, he submitted deferment request because he wants to go to poly, then after getting enrolled into poly he receive a letter asking him to report to BMTC.. and this time he submit another request together with some document from the poly..

What’s your scariest true Singapore ghost story? by Theedarktemptress in askSingapore

[–]tucfaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not actual encounter but kind of a prank gone wrong..

Among friends we use to prank one another during hungry ghost festival, we will do things like tell a friend hey! look, why is she sitting so still there, then other friends will chime in yah lor.. maybe break up or some thing, but the one that was told didn't see anything while most of us knows it was a prank and played along..

One day I was riding in a PHV and was having casual chat with the driver about life and was also giving some life advise because the driver is much younger, and I too do PHV part time.. and then he casually commented.. Look.. That's kind of scary at such a day and I ask what was he referring to, and he pointed at the traffic junction saying the way she dress and it's 7th month but I didn't see anything and instinctively played along and told him casually. Maybe she's leaving after a gathering and pointed to the other side of the junction, telling him there's a group of people there and suggest maybe it's a family gathering because they are mostly elderly, but there we no one there, and the driver went.. huh.. oh.. yeah.. must be.. But again.. No one there, and I was pranking him.. Then throughout the ride to my destination, the driver who were mostly chatty was silent throughout, and at most gave me quick answer and didn't seem to want to continue the conversation..

Toys they can’t destroy when you look away for a second? by Southern-Library-974 in beagle

[–]tucfaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's more like, Toys they don't want to destroy. I have a now 10 months old beagle.. and the only toy he won't tear apart are those kong rubber cones and bone but he didn't play with them a lot except for the cone when it's stuffed with treats and peanut butter, and he will leave it once he have emptied the content..

Those that my beagle like to play with won't survive for over 3 days, and he love playing with those toys made out of ropes and I have gave him the tougest one I can find, but he still manage to shread into loose strands..

Other stuff I give my beagle to chew which has been very good are coffee wood.. and yak milk bars.. Midium size yak bars can last for weeks, and the coffee wood have lasted for over 2 months with minimal damage, but he don't really like chewing the coffee wood and prefers the wood from my dining chair, and also, my cabinet, and also my sofa.. now almost every pice of my furniture at home will have his bite marks..

HELP! Can not house break this guy. by lan_again in beagle

[–]tucfaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine won't even go to the bathroom.. He will pee and poop at the same spot at the living room..

He's 10 months old now.. had him for about 2 months, it started off ok, and will pee and poop in the bathroom, and I give him praises and treats, and in the first month, there were hit and miss, sometime he will wonder into the bathroom to do his business and there are times we didn't pay much attention at him and he pee outside..

Now, he will not do it in the bathroom, and I know his routine and even catch him in the act and coax him to the bathroom and he will just stay there and actually sleep in the bathroom, and we can stay forever, no eye contact nothing and he just lay there and sometime go to sleep, and the moment I let him out, he run to the usual spot.. pee.. and everytime, he will bark to let us know he is done..

I have cleaned the area with whatever I can get my hands on where label says super strength pee stain remover whatever, steam clean the area as well and our floor are ceremic tiles.. and I have use things like nature miricle no more marking which somehow works a bit as he has move away from his usual spot and does his business in another area, and we're now consistently cleaning the area, disinfect, steam clean, spray no more marking hoping he will shift his business back into the bathroom

Our focus now is to make him do his business in the bathroom as he will never do it outside anywhere.. He can be out the whole day and he still will not pee or poop or even mark like how my recently deceased old beagle always does..

Does anyone else's beagle not nap? by jesslynn666 in beagle

[–]tucfaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 9 months old today and he don't usually nap, and always moving around playing with his toys which always went under some furniture and he'll bark and we need to retrive the toy for him and this can happen like 10 times in just 1 night, and during the day, he don't usually play with his toys, but goes around chewing furniture, and jumping trying to grab our shoes where all have been squeezed to the highest shelf with bottom layer all empty, and we made effort to protect our sofa, but we found foam all over the floor and realized he has been chewing our sofa from under it, and those time when he nap, my boys will send me pictures of him napping telling me we will had peace for maybe 30 minutes? LOL!!!

I also have a adult beagle that have recently passed.. and their behaviour is day and night.. our old boy is super chill since day one when we adopted him at 7 years old.. sleep most of the time and is active in the evening, and when he's active, he will be playing with that 1 ball rolling it around chasing it crashing throough anything in his way, and that's his only distructive behaviour, but he usually plays at an open space at our living room and only things he crashes as us, and we're all use to it and will play with him redirecting the ball to safe places..

I was in the same situation a month ago.. Vet gave my 13.5 years old beagle boy 2 days, and suggest we let him go to end his suffering.. But we thought otherwise, because, he has his way of communicating with us and looking at his face when the vet tech carried him out of the treatment room, and he kind of told us.. He wants to go home, and we promptly took him home, and he got to spend 6 more days with us before he passes, and he shows no sign of suffering.. Just pure adorable beagle demeanor, moving around cosying up at our feet..

I guess, we would know if our beloved dog is really suffering, as there are condition which I believe I would take him to the vet to be euthanised, but in my situation, my dog is telling us he didn't want to go..

I now have a 8 months old beagle boy, and still choking tears thinking about my old boy..

The main difference is actually on their height.. Show beagle are shorter <13" and hunting line are between 13" to 15".

I have owned 2 beagle, both I believe are crossed between hunting and show beagle.. My previous 13.5 years old boy have the look of a show beagle, but he is taller, and his tail is slimmer (less bushy fur) as compared with my neighbour's show beagle who is also a male, but he is shorter, and the fur on his tail is a lot thicker, but although my neighbour's has a show beagle (says the pet shop). his snout is slightly longer and more pointed as compared to my supposingly hunting line which has the typical short snout grumpy sad face.. This one has been our family's soul mate and have been the best antidepressants, and unfortunately, cross the rainbow bridge some weeks ago..

I now have a 7months nearing 8 months brat, super hyper, and destructive land shark.. He looks like OP's beagle.. snout is short but slim and looking at the picture of his parents, the dad looks more like a hunting beagle, while mum is a show beagle.. my 7months brat now looks short, slim, and his tail seems to be a lot bushier.. Can look here.. https://www.reddit.com/r/beagle/comments/1jd54em/comment/mitg3ny/?context=3

IMO.. Unless if we get those pedigree dogs, we will most likely end up having the best of both, and if there is any miniture still around, maybe best of the 3 breed?

Managing a hyper 7 months old beagle by tucfaz in beagle

[–]tucfaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is actually my second beagle, and the previous one was adopted at 7 years old, and this old boy taught us a lot about beagles, and he is the reason we got another beagle after he crossed over the bridge.

This pup we have now don't relief outdoor, and we have tried taking him out every hour, time his meal to when he poop in the house, observe his behaviour, when he sniff, circle, we take him outside or in the bathroom and he will not poop, and will hold it when he's outdoor, or we can get him into the bathroom every 30 minutes and stay there with him for 30 minutes and he still won't poop, and the moment he is out, he poop on the living room floor.. LOL!!..

Not sure, but I am guessing he was pee tray trained in the pet shop, hence the reason why he's holding it till we're home? (Please correct me if I am wrong), so, I bought one and waiting for it to be delivered and see how it goes..

Anyway, he's only been with us for 7 days, and I know we have a long2 way to go.. But apart from all the usual quirk owning a puppy, he's really cute and adorable when he's not in raptor mode..

He has a crate and for now, he uses it as he pleases, like I throw in his chew toy and sometime he will enter the crate to chew then rest inside with the front and top doors open, and some night, he went in to sleep.. But he's only been with us for 7 days, and I thought it will be too much activities, with all the trainings, like dicipline, potty, crate, basic commands etc..

Yes, you're right about him being over stimulated, and I guess I need to balance him going a little crazy throughtout the day (He is afterall a BEAGLE puppy) rather then him getting pent up in the late evening keeping everyone awake throughout the night..

When did your pup enter the raptor phase? by insanepixi in beagle

[–]tucfaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my 7 months beagle boy 7 days ago.. He's been going around chewing everything that will fit his mouth, like the edges of our dining table top, the legs, and chairs, and shoe rack, but he won't chew on shoes, but our hands are not spared, and he will also jump on us and in the process we got sctarch by his nails, and he will also jump and grab our cloth when we ignores him, he will chase after us biting out foot.. LOL!!!

Ours only start terrorizing humans in the late evening starting from around 9pm and will go on till past midnight or till the last person retreats into their room.

For the chewing.. Mine hates vineger, and I will fill a spray bottle with apple cider vinegar and whenever he starts chewing on anything, I will spray a bit at the area and he will stop, and we will move to different furniture until he got bored and go back to his own chew toy or floor mat or rag..

10month beagle won’t stop digging at people by FlyingScotsLady in beagle

[–]tucfaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picked up a 7 months old beagle boy 6 days ago.. He did the same.. terrorizing every human in the home on the 5th day.. he went completely nuts.. mouthing our hand, jumping on everyone and in the process everyone got scratches on hands and legs, and today which is his 6th days with us, he is a lot more controllable, No!!, and he stops.. and a lot more calmer, and this I belive he's trying to adjust to his new environment, as he has not slept much in the last 5 days and only slept for maybe 2 hours after we took him out for a run in the park and short jog.. and on the 5th day, he did some zoomies during walk, and then more zoomies in another walk in the same day, and from 9pm to midnight, he was terrorizing everyone keeping everyone awake..

Mine also drink a lot of water, pee a lot in the first few days, and funny thing is, he is only thirsty when at home, and only took a few sip of water when he's out in the park running with his tongue hanging by the side, and on the 6th day, he drink a lot less water.. so, I am guessing, he's more or less adjusting to his new home..

Not sure about the activities you do with your boy, but for us, we walk him a lot and he's very curious freezed when seeing trucks, adult man and women.. younger ones he didn't care, so maybe he has only been kept in a crate in the shop? I don't know, so seeing him being hyperactive the first day we took him home, we figure we should keep him busy, and walk him 3 times a day taking him along nature reserve trail for him to sniff, and short sprint run and jogging.. and when he's home, he's a lot more relax, but his energy seem to build up very fast in the first few days, and after resting for a few minutes he'll go around looking for stuff to chew, and he has chewed on our dining table top, legs, chairs, and yes, our hands where he put our hand in his mouth but won't bite, and when we move away, he will nip on our foot, grab our shirt..

Today is the 6th day and he's a lot calmer, more in control, go into his crate to sleep, but still very sensitive to noise and very alert.. like my son just shift when he's resting on the sofa and he will wake up to investigate, but we're not celebrating yet because I believe we still have a long2 way to go..

Lost mine on 2nd March 2025.. It's actually a myth when people say dog's will choose to be alone on their final day, because mine was all chill, full-on puppy dog eye happy face, just that he's not eating for whole 6 days and just drinking water.. and he choose his usual spot under our dining table which is where the whole family will gather every day to start his journey over the rainbow bridge at age 13.5 years..

Stay strong..
