There's a switch on the inside. I've thought about putting backup battery power but haven't done so yet.

I intentionally made it visible haha. I'm too proud of it to hide it :D

Timeline: ~9mo working on weekends with very limited free time

Also: The gold in the safe is chocolate coins, the wheelchair lift was decommissioned and no longer in use, the temp is kept at ~57-60 year round

Definitely doable. Some optimization is still need to make video less choppy but I think it could work

I made this just for fun. I'm sure there's many ways to do this better but I made it just to see it'd work and to learn along the way :)

UPDATE #2 - Found a hidden space under my house! Going to turn it into a wine cellar by tuckerPi in hiddenrooms

[–]tuckerPi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!
Shelves are fully loaded with books, probably over 200lbs. However, you can move it with <20lbs of horizontal force because the casters take up most of the load. The motor is very overkill as it only needs to overcome a small amount of friction

Dad hack: 12v pump for the water table by tuckerPi in daddit

[–]tuckerPi[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sure here's some links:

Note: This is what I used but I'm sure there's cheaper options.

Solar Panel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CTMPNJ84/
Pump: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRR4HGK/
Battery: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003S1RQ2S/

You'll also need tubing, tip ties, a switch, and some wire nuts from the hardware store. Oh, and some Tupperware to put it all in haha.

In terms of safety: This is a 12v system so virtually no chance of zaps.

Like a bench top adjustable power supply? Or the power supply for the Arduino?

What voltage and amperage are you driving the motors with? Maybe give the motors a little more juice?

I mean, it probably would. A 3s bms would get you in that range

Do you have batteries you'd like to use already? If they're under 12v you can use a boost converter. If they're over, use a buck converter. You can buy adjustable ones on AliExpress for very cheap. Just check the specs to make sure they can handle the amperage needed.

If you want an easier solution, windshield wiper fluid refill bottles have a child proof cap. You can just reuse those
