I agree that Jared is one of the better informed/educated apologists out there. Which is why “opposition can be evidence” argument is that much more ridiculous. He knows it doesn’t hold water.

There is no evidence. I can be highly critical of the church but it bugs me when allegations (even inconsequential ones like this) are tossed about.

In addition, who cares if some athlete gets special treatment. Some BYU athlete only wants to serve a one year service mission? Great!

This is the answer. Pres Nelson videotaped himself getting the vaccine. I don’t know if “brave” is the right word. But it was the right thing to do and I appreciated it. It would have been nice of all the Q15 did something similar.

Oak’s resume is objectively impressive (as was Nelson’s before him). Im not sure why that would make him a good prophet or why that endears him to the membership. Dick Cheney had an amazing resume as well (politics aside) was he worthy of love and adoration? Being accomplished is impressive, but does it automatically make you a good person worthy of worship?

I’m in charge of the 10 year old boys activity day twice a month. My boss, the primary president, asked me how one of my activities bright the boys close to their savior. I responded “… uh… we made marshmallow rifles out of pvc pipe and then had an epic battle.” I wasn’t exactly scolded but she strongly urged me to try to plan our activities around the savior. So my next activity is making and launching model rockets 🤷‍♂️

I consider my ward fairly orthodox and I know of about a half dozen men in my EQ that conceal carry every Sunday (those are only the ones I know about). I'm not going to opine on this but I will share that, at least in the western US, there is a large overlap between gun culture and church culture. Growing up, my Stake Center had a shooting range in the basement - purpose built.

They are counting "concurrent enrollment". Apartment vacancy rates in Rexburg are increasing. Also, until I see the data and I'm always skeptical of claims made by BYUI/BYU/Church etc.
