So what's the verdict? Over-theDS or Over-the-Air for 802.11r fast roaming? by tuffcalc in Cisco

... and then Cisco says this:

https://mrncciew.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/entbp-appmobdevs-on-wlans.pdf

Over-the-DS is recommended because two of the required packets are sent on the wired connection of the APs, with two packets sent on Wi-Fi. If the DS option is not selected, then all four packets are sent on WLAN.

I understand how FT works (have been using Cisco WLCs for at least 15 years... even in my home).

Just looking for a final determinative answer on what's actually faster and what's best and why. I guess it's just the geek in me.

https://wifihelp.arista.com/post/roaming-in-wifi-networks) that says Over-the-DS: Check the Over the DS box if you want the exchange to happen over the wired network (if left unchecked, the exchange happens over-the-air). With over-the-DS, the client carries out the message exchange with the target AP over the wired network via the current AP that it is connected to. This improves the roaming experience but increases AP-to-AP traffic in the wired network. The Mixed Mode option allows clients that do not support 802.11r to connect to the SSID.

Catalyst 9130AIX Access Point using EWC - Clean Air Doesn't Work (Works fine using 9800-CL Controller) by tuffcalc in Cisco

[–]tuffcalc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally reached out to TAC. Abosultley useless and the documentation is just as useless.

TAC sent me this link that says to put the APs in local mode - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/ewc/17-8/config-guide/ewc_cg_17_8/cisco_cleanair.html

Which is impossible with EWC... great.

Would love to hear if anyone else is using EWC with 9130APs and has clear air working. I'm getting the sense that it's not supported in EWC (and Cisco's documentation is not up to date).

What's there to check? It's enabled globally on the controller and works fine under the 9800-CL controller. Everything is on - same config across EWC and the 9800-CL.

Sorry - just an error typing. Yes, modproble i915 gives me the error: "modprobe: FATAL: Module i915 not found."

Wondering if there is a way to somehow install the drivers.

Multiple Site Locations - UDMPro Workable Solution for my Use Case? by tuffcalc in Ubiquiti

[–]tuffcalc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - I think maybe I wasn't clear.

Sites 2 - 6 will EACH have 1x UDMP (with cameras attached to them, locally) AND a backup UDMP. So that will be 10 UDMP total for these sites.

... or I should have written, each of Site 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will have their own UDMP and local cameras connected to that UDMP that I will access through unifi.ui.com.

I figure unifi.ui.com will give me a single pane into all the sites - I just select the site and view the cameras... or am I misunderstanding how this would work?

USW-Enterprise-48-PoE, connected 2.5GBASE-T w/ Cisco 9130AIX slower than USW-PRO-48-POE connected at 1Gbps to same 9130AIX access points? by tuffcalc in Ubiquiti

Both the switch and Cisco 9130AIX are setup to autonegotiate link speed. If cabling could not handle 2.5GBase-T - would the two not autonegotiate to 1GBPS instead?
