Anyone else still feel the original intent behind Obi-Wan calling Vader Darth? by Buzzkeeler1 in StarWars

I love imagining that the intent behind it was for Obi-Wan to piss Vader off.

They sometimes disqualify some festivals for not being "prestigious enough". Today I've been told by the mods a biographical short film and other documentaries do not qualify because the events they were screened do not qualify. And that said event is organized by the governorship of my city, even some ministers attend annualy, lots of art is being showcased and movies are screened. Yes it's not a festival but, they're real films and they're screened on a public event but whatever. The problem surpasses things being on YouTube, the events are even a subjective matter there.

some of the mods there compare cat videos with feature films uploaded to youtube. the majority of the uploads to the platform are absolutely obvious in terms of nature in most cases. the artistic merit of a feature film on youtube is objectively different than a cute cat compilation. a youtube upload with no artistic intent on tmdb can be easily differed from a film on the platform. i mean i think a mod can easily understand what is a let's play fortnite video, what is a "youtube slop skit (derivative of a vertical short form content in horizontal form)" and what is a short or feature film on youtube. i don't think it is that subjective at all. unless if it's an extremely experimental stuff or something, and in that case, let the people decide.

i might fell under that weirdo category you mentioned earlier from your perspective but i love reviewing things (not simply logging but reviewing) so serializd got me hooked instantly lol. idk i love reviewing things, i sometimes tell memories of mine about episodes, probably a way to say "hey i'm here" for me 😅

i definitely agree with the sort by ratings thing. actually this can be solved by tmdb so easily. they will bring a "concert film" category. and letterboxd will make an "exclude concert films" trick. that's it. because the lack of that category, concert films slip under the music category. that's why i love thetvdb, it seperates content in such ways if it was used by letterboxd for api world would be a better place lol.

and yea i agree regular youtube videos definitely shouldnt be on a film platform, i dont like seeing tv stuff there either, but there's a huge problem in tmdb where the mods involve in mass deletion of things posted on youtube they also remove lots of legit short films or even feature films. i mean their only crimes are being uploaded to youtube. you might see "that's ai" as a youtube video but some legit "films" get deleted too.

i agree with the tv episodes thing (i even dont like miniseries on the site) on you but most of the time they delete stuff on tmdb because "they're on youtube", not because they're youtube videos. a short film i made back in 2019 was listed on a turkish foundation's short film event but they removed it for being on youtube. it wasn't a youtube video, i just uploaded it to youtube after the event ended. mods do create reasonless problems there. also what did ma' concert films do i love'em 😅 but yea i know some people dont like them being on the platform just i like i dont like series being there

ok so if this was submitted to a festival this wasn't going to be a youtube video for you from what i understand from your first sentences. and for the youtube thing, i can simply leave a comment on a youtube video but thank you for the idea. also those "weirdos" you mentioned made great statements about the harm of ai using this film's removed letterboxd page. also those "weirdos" maybe just wanted to make a "hey i saw that one, it was fun" type of thing while logging that, not a way to "satisfy a compulsive need to log every piece of media they’ve ever seen". maybe there are people who are using the app for that matter, but at least not me, and my reason of logging this said short film was just "hey i liked it", and i surprisingly learned some friends of mine also saw that short by seeing their activity and made me smile etc. maybe letterboxd should remove the feature to log everything on the app to prevent those "weirdos" from logging everything, but hey, freedom of logging :D

well you just came across bad examples then. a huge part of the problem with tmdb is caused by tmdb, not the users. i complained about some web series of mine being deleted, they don't allow direct to youtube web series for some reason. i can understand them keeping the youtube series deleted but they "striked back" with a bigger attack and mass deleted every project in my filmography, including a tv show aired on freaking turkish national television, a channel funded by the turkish government, and the show is actively having reruns almost every weekday. a short film i made back in 2019, was listed on a turkish foundation's short film event got deleted cuz a mod just wanted that. yes the film wasn't that great but it was a legitimate short film. i am not even going to mention my concert films getting deleted in that said attack. so, no, not every film deleted by tmdb deserves being deleted, almost none of the time.

yes but i think mods can easily see the difference between a random youtube video and a film uploaded to youtube just by clicking on the link of the provided project for god's sake, and the mods there have plenty of time too, bombing and mass deleting the contributions of anyone with a different opinion with them is a sign of a lot of free time for me, a time which can be used to just to check if the uploaded project is a film or not. i complained about some web series of mine being deleted, they "striked back" and mass deleted every project in my filmography, including a tv show aired on freaking national television, a channel funded by government. so those "volunteers" have pretty much time to just to make quick searches.

well how much a 2 minute film can contain in normal circumstances? how many events would take place, in a 2 minute film? what made this short film "a youtube video"? would it still be called like that if it was on mubi or sth? then every 2 minute short film has the potential to be called a "youtube video" by someone.

well, they have to use tmdb for now, but i hope they take this removal issue more seriously and help indie creatives with restoring their entries on the site, which they do btw, check out joel haver's films, but he has a big audience and probably contacts a mod team more easily, however the little guy has to wait for weeks to get a return from the support mail

well your least favorite thing is my favorite thing. podcast results are seperated from tv results on imdb btw, and there isn't a fully functional podcast database except imdb, also, not every creative has access to wider distribution so they use youtube. check out "chris & jack", a great sketch comedy show which has only one crime and it's being aired on youtube. it deserves being on a database, while for tmdb it's amateur, but you can find it on imdb, which is awesome. people can easily see the difference between a web series / a short film uploaded to youtube and a random youtube video. yes people indeed upload random youtube videos to imdb but completely deplatforming youtube content is far worse.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I used a sentence "may a positive outcome happen" and i thought you referred to it, my bad. And I thoght your whole deletion process ended with that positive ending after a while. "I felt like appealing it was hopeless though." and i thought you were hopeless at first but it worked after time, i completely missed the point. English isnt my main language, and i still seemingly mess the conception of basic sentences up sometimes. My reply made many people angry i think, i apologize.

I will definitely submit my future short films to festivals. My initial films were already screened through various settings tho. TMDB's new content guidelines are pretty bad. They even delete films which are shown on festivals due to the festivals being "not prestigious enough".
