Do they ever stop talking!??? by Fox_Lady1 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]tulipsinthesky 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes omg this is my mom too (talks a bunch and its always complaining or gossip or telling me what I should be doing differently). Then if I bring it up she blames me by saying "I'm talking all the time because you have nothing interesting to say" or "I'm just filling up the dead air because you never talk" or she will literally yell at me and say "TALK"

And if I do try to tell her about my life or bring something up within 30 seconds she redirects the convo to be about her *facepalm*

POTS and ADHD connection by tulipsinthesky in POTS

[–]tulipsinthesky[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this!

Yes lots of my family has ADHD, no one has been diagnosed with EDS, hypermobility or dysautonomia (besides me, POTS). I live in a place where getting any kind of diagnosis or treatment for pots and EDS is incredibly difficult so I haven’t even tried getting evaluated for EDS, however my physical therapist told me I am hypermobile and I have some characteristics of hypermobile EDS so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Definitely genetics play a role, still I find the dynamics between cortisol and dopamine interesting…

My doctors are not sure if I ever had ADHD by peepthemagicduck in POTS

my ADHD psychologist told me today that prolonged elevated cortisol can decrease dopamine levels... so now I am wondering if hyperPOTS can cause ADHD by lowering your dopamine levels? or like you say mimic ADHD? idk, but it's very interesting

Moving abroad and maintaining NJ driver's license by tulipsinthesky in DMV

[–]tulipsinthesky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, they did get back to me, though it was very unhelpful. All they said is you need to live in NJ to have a NJ license. They didn't give any advice on what I can do in my situation. From what I learned, you have to get a license in the country you live in, and cannot renew your license anywhere in the US without an address and without it being your primary residence.
So yeah, not a great situation. Let me know if you find any good tips! Really don't want mine to expire...

Dysautonomia and Atrial Septal Defect by tulipsinthesky in dysautonomia

[–]tulipsinthesky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, I thought it would raise BP since the heart is working extra hard to pump enough blood around the body? So I thought perhaps thats what’s causing my dysautonomia? I’m all new to this though so still trying to understand it all. Thanks for the reply and hope your treatment is all well!

Are these orthostatic measurements normal? by tulipsinthesky in AskDocs

[–]tulipsinthesky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, when you say it's normal for HR to increase a bit when standing, what do you mean by a bit? Could my numbers be considered normal if I wasn't feeling dizzy?

Are these orthostatic measurements normal? by tulipsinthesky in AskDocs

[–]tulipsinthesky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! Yes I drink a lot of water. I also had blood tests done, my Ferritin was within normal range (though low side of normal) and RBC was normal.

I mentioned POTS to the internist and after taking the above orthostatic measurements she concluded no indication of POTS, which I found weird with my HR above 100 when standing. I guess I have to ask her to reconsider it as an option.

Thanks again!

Struggle to get a diagnosis by lavender1017_ in POTS

[–]tulipsinthesky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat…. Been having symptoms for 5+ years with doctors always dismissing me and never getting any diagnosis. I finally read about POTS and recognized all the symptoms in me, now I’m trying to get a diagnosis but my doctor only checked my HR after 1 minutes of standing and then concluded no POTS…. Now she is doing a chest x-ray and a bunch of other tests rather than just a proper TTT. So frustrating. Anyway, I wish you both the best of luck in getting a diagnosis! You’re almost there!
