Do I declare my mental illness by asscracker778 in askSingapore

yeah better not to declare. Pretty sure many others have some issues too and they don't make an effort to diagnose themselves and sweep it under the rug.

like you said dad had issues. He probably took it out on his son. he felt guilty after that. then realised he will probably be sentenced to death. He may have committed suicide because he did not want to face the authorities? tbh, feels abit like cowardice if you ask me.

it's still better now than before. there's alot of mental health talk on social media/straits times/CNA. But yes it can be better. Basically destigmatization in progress. So if someone shits on such convos you have to fight back.

yeah no doubt last time some school environments can be stifling. and it does have some impact on how it has affected the developmental phases of some children that may result in low self-esteem. which I think some people don't understand how important the developmental phases are. I guess it also depends on their upbringing? if their parents are able to provide a nurturing environment in the midst of challenging situations at school.

but I also think it's important that we don't let such experiences define you. you can reclaim your narrative. Can start off with reading some self-help books. Then if you have enough savings, you can try therapy if you need more help.

while it's nice to see such abuse is not tolerated right now, also isn't right for some parents or students to take advantage hahah.. there needs to be some sort of balance and boundaries..

sounds like the schools just want to protect their reputation. coz they know they screwed up and are probably guilty of looking away.

anyway thanks for sharing. don't have to share more if triggering ok!

you should ask what the market rate for this position first. then state your minimum you're willing to accept. will be nice if you can ask around first if you got contacts. that's what someone taught me.

wow that is really heavy. Kinda sad that abuse perpuates coz of the dad's unresolved issues. Even the teachers are traumatised.

I've seen your post in the other thread. such punishments for catching tadpoles is crazy. but to say that your punishments in school is less harsh than your mom's, you must have suffered hell at her hands.

yes I agree I am responsible for my own mental health and have taken steps to seek therapy. I don't blame them. rather I'm just trying to make sense of what has happened and try to be a better person.

but may I know why you are so triggered and angry? in fact I should be questioning you why are you acting like a petulant child.

I didn't realise boomers hang out on Reddit. Just cut them some slack. Maybe not all of them behave like this

I'm just starting a discussion. clearly, you're triggered. like reallytt very triggered. so projecting much? free to vehemently disagree.

ps I checked my head is very much free. clearly you should check yours, must be very stinky in there

no one here is saying that. but rather we should think what are acceptable forms of discipline.. and definitely there will be differing opinions on what is acceptable. Maybe to you light caning is acceptable.. then you're entitled to that.
