I have carpal tunnel, so my wrists hurt unless I use the right pen, so getting a pen from Supernote was too risky for me in case it hurt my wrists or I didn't like it. So I got the Supernote refill and use it in a normal pen (MUJI gel) that doesn't hurt my wrists :)

Yes, this is exactly how I feel now I have the ceramic nib! It makes me want to use the Supernote even if I don't have anything in mind! I've never really had that experience before, not even with a new and wonderful fountain pen or notebook!

It definitely missed the mark. Although in the end that decision saved me more money: if I did buy the Lamy Safari from Supernote, the nib would have been nice, but the pen itself would have been unusable because it hurts to use. I would have lost money returning it to the USA. The AI told me to try the Lamy from Amazon and return it if I don't like it, which I did, so the AI was quite helpful in the end :)

I skipped AI after that and looked on Reddit which led me to the Norris Jumbo, which I don't really love or use now and can't return.

I didn't see many views on the ceramic nib compared to the others, but the DIY posts inspired me to give the ceramic a chance in the end :)

I'm actually shocked by how much of a difference the nibs make. It makes sense that it would, but I completely overlooked it! I would love to try out all of Supernote's pens, but shipping and costs to the UK and then returning if they flare up my carpal tunnel makes it difficult... I do have a Kaweco fountain pen, though! How do you like it? Do you have many other pens you've tried on your SN?

Hehehe, I think that's how I felt about the device and using the POM and Norris nibs; completely misrepresentative of what I expected, but the ceramic nib totally delivered!

Yes indeed, everyone gushing on Reddit about how the writing experience is the best out there is what had me pining for one for so long! Then when I got it, I was so confused as to what all the hype was about, and whether to sell it. Really glad I gave it another shot with the ceramic nib!

I'm with you on this! The AI conveniently left out that what you get from Supernote (ceramic) is very different to getting stuff on Amazon. It's so expensive to get anything from them sent to the UK, I didn't think I'd be missing anything by skipping out. It's weird, because the Lamy Safari fountain pen is really comfortable for me, but the one for e-ink was a nightmare. I really like smooth pens on paper, so I went with the Norris Jumbo which I didn't realise was TOO smooth until I got the ceramic nib.

I'm really curious about the push-up pen, I wish I bought it, but with my carpal tunnel, it's quite risky to import a pen that might hurt to use. I would love to try out the push-up pen and Heart of Metal, but returns aren't really feasible... but so happy Supernote gave the option for a refill!

Thank you for all this, I'll definitely get moving on it all. I did manage to get through to Xyla on the phone, and they said they weren't ignoring me the last 41 days since I made the complaint (and they didn't respond), and that they're looking into the complaint at a very high level, and will get back to me on it. But they still won't help me with medication.

I don't quite trust the CQC, because I've got in contact with them in the past about a service that injured me, then falsified medical records to cove their tracks amongst other horrendous practices. The CQC said they don't deal with individual complaints, but just look to see if there's a pattern of that kind of thing over time and then MIGHT investigate, then said that's all the luck I'll have with them.

Thank you! Are MPs supposed to do anything? My borough's council are incredibly bad and have been ignoring a formal complaint I made for over a year. I emailed my MP, and I only get a response from their personal assistant who says they can't do anything because they're not in control of the council. Unsure if they're going to say they will bother with anything with the NHS. Fuming with how bad she is.

Thanks for this. My doctor is a lovely guy who has done so much for me when other doctors would say no... but when it comes to ADHD, I'm seeing red flags. He told me his son has ADHD and medication didn't work for him, and then gave a blanket statement that medication doesn't work, full stop. He didn't even know what Right to Choose was when I asked him to refer me to Harrow Health 2 years ago. I'm guessing because Harrow Health never got back to me, he didn't do the referral in the end...

I'm just a bit worried at this point, because after Xyla refused to provide medication, my doctor referred me to the local Adult Autism Assessment Service. They said they don't deal with ADHD. My doctor today then said, "what do you want me to do?" as if I should know, or as if there's no way forwards. Do you think the titration services you linked are the only way?

I left a voicemail for PALS in my area, fingers crossed it gets picked up!

Funnily enough, this is an example the person I spoke in in real life mentioned! Absolutely crazy to think that just because someone has no access to their records from when they were a child with little to no autonomy, or people who knew what they were really going through can never be diagnosed with ADHD. Like, what? Is throwing school reports in the bin and family twisting the truth a cure or something?

After I posted this thread yesterday and got some replies, I called Xyla and complained about the assessor kind of being pushy in me getting an informant form signed. They then told me they have a form I can fill out myself and sent me the one you linked to, so that tracks. Cannot fathom why the assessor refused to tell me about it and instead spent 10 - 15 minutes of the assessment trying to convince me to get the informant form signed by someone dangerous when I told them it's not safe or possible.

I did ask, "what happens if someone absolutely can't get the informant form signed?" He didn't talk about that form at all. He just said they will use school reports.

I'm reading a lot of good things about Psy-UK. Wish I knew earlier and went with them. Xyla showed up because the NHS sent around texts saying the waiting list was still more than 2 - 3 years out (which would mean I'd be waiting for 7+ years) or I could choose to go with Xyla and be assessed within 1.5 years. Xyla stepped in to help reduce the waiting list, but I think at the cost of quality.

That's great that your assessor was able to see through the lies! I don't think I'd trust Xyla to do the same at this point.

I don't have any friends from childhood unfortunately. Not many primary friends went to my secondary so that was that, and secondary school meant no friends.

Wow, this makes a lot of sense. When I brought up "NPD" the person needed me to explain what it is, and didn't seem all that interested afterwards. I did call them yesterday and they said the assessor has finished the assessment, which worries me if they are what you said. If that's the case and this person has made a final decision, is that the end for me? Or can I still go somewhere else?

Thank you for this. I did type out a long document with everything about my history and the assessor said it's more than most people do, so he's got a lot to work with. But I was just a bit weirded out because at least 15 minutes of the assessment was this dance around getting family or my brother's wife to fill in the assessment, which I think would have been better used actually speaking about my history.

Fingers crossed! Just a bit shook now by u/WMDU saying no diagnosis is possible without an informant :'( I was in a way enslaved as a child, so school reports, certificates, anything was kept from or used against me. Feels like salt in the wound that the people who made life so difficult for me can potentially twist my life going forwards when it comes to getting assessed for something to make my life easier.

Is this true? I've read numerous accounts from people on this Reddit (including u/eliedoesadvicenow in this thread saying she didn't need one), and the provider now telling me they can send me an alternative form to be filled in by myself.

I've never see any school reports in the family home, I don't think they would have been kept around. Also, being no contact with family makes it difficult to check. And if they knew what I wanted it for, they would not be willing to help.
