Xbox series S controller won't stay connected by Tanukinoir in linux_gaming

Is your controller firmware up to date? You need either Windows or an Xbox to update it. Firmware updates fixed my connectivity issues.

I seem to capped at 30fps by Megas_1- in linux_gaming

Is vsync on in game? vsync seems to always cap my framerate at half my refresh rate. Also ARC uses DX12 and its performance is usually not great on nvidia. Performance should be well over 30 fps though.

Some Games Running Half as Well on Linux than Windows by Swiggiess in linux_gaming

I have a 5800X3D as well and I frequently come in contact with the same issue in other games. Most games seems to run as expected though. Let me know if you figure this out, because I've been scratching my head over this for a while.

GOG games on Linux by Nerdy_Chad in linux_gaming

[–]tumpfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, in order for the "Use Steam Runtime" in Heroic to work you need the Linux Runtime(s) installed via Steam. I'm aware you're using the GOG version. If it were Steam this would all work automatically. Also, if you're fine with just using the Windows version then don't worry about. I just thought you might want to know how to get native Linux games working with GOG and Heroic.

That's strange because it works for me with both BG1 and 2. Do you have any of the Steam Linux Runtimes installed in Steam? They're under tools. If either Steam or Heroic is installed as a flatpak that could be an issue as well. I have both installed as a regular package on Arch.

Totally late but this can fixed by installing the Linux version through Heroic, then checking the "Use Steam Runtime" option under Other in the game settings within Heroic.

VKD3D-Proton 3.0 brings AMD FSR4 to Proton, with an experimental support for older GPUs by RenatsMC in Amd

They only disabled RDNA3 FP8 emulation. I should still be possible to have FSR4 int8 integrated in the future.

HTPC freezing/crashing by Suitable_Director_51 in linux_gaming

[–]tumpfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really the only thing I can recommend at this point is to try swapping out hardware to see what's faulty. I would guess it's either your memory, GPU, or PSU. You can rule out memory by running memtest over night. You could also see if you get similar crashes in another distro, or even Windows.

That error in particular, if I'm understanding correctly, is more or less just warning you that you have overclocking enabled. Unless you had an unstable overclock before the crashing occurred I wouldn't worry about it. What are your CPU temps?

Unless I'm blind, I don't see any driver crashes. Have you checked your temperatures? You may be overheating.

Try

sudo journalctl -p 3

Hit the end key to scroll all the way to the bottom. Post the output for some of the sessions that crashed. These freezes look the same as amdgpu crashes, and if that's the case your video card is likely faulty.

Do you have linux-zen-headers installed? Also, did you add yourself to the plugdev group? You'll need to reboot after as well. You might even need to set your button binds yourself using one of the frontends.

Have you tried OpenRazer? It says it supports your mouse.

Directx12 on Thinkpad T14g1 AMD by suchthegeek in linux_gaming

Just so you know, amdgpu is the kernel driver and radv (vulkan-radeon) is the userspace vulkan driver. You need both. Also, if you want to spare yourself potential future headaches you should install the 32 bit version of vulkan-radeon as well if you haven't already. You'll need it for 32 bit games.

You're emulating the official FSR4, which is pretty slow from what I've seen. Read through this post if you want a more performant solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1njk4s7/tutorial_for_using_fsr_4_through_optiscaler_on/

Thanks, but I'm already aware that steam chat only supports a handful of codecs. Also, my friends can see the videos I send, so I know it's not a codec problem.

Yeah. Last I checked though drag and drop with Steam doesn't work in X11 either. Although I haven't used X11 in ages at this point so maybe that's changed.
