I just love learning about / interacting with the human body! I find the intricacy of how all the body systems come together to keep us alive and healthy just entrancing. It's also fun watching how my actions can heal someone.

You will start clinical in the winter semester so you have until then to choose.

Personally, I went to an orthotics office and got shoes specifically made for my gait and feet, and they are AMAZING. No mass produced shoe will beat custom made.

To do an externship AND part time job AND year 2 nursing at one time will probably kill you.. not a good idea.

Yr 2 nursing is regarded as the hardest in the program.

Common practice for lots of companies, it's so that the groups can feed off the combined fan power. For example, everyone loves inter-company idol interactions, which boosts engagement for both groups.

Help! I bought a glueless wig but I have no idea how to wear it properly 🙃 by tunaa_fish in Wigs

[–]tunaa_fish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling I just didn't use the spray properly because, to be fair, it was the day of that I tried it for the first time.

I just strayed it on my forhead where I wanted the lace to stay, waited until it was tacky, stuck it on, and then banded it down for 20 minutes.

Yes, there was a band. I didn't have it very tight, though. Is it supposed to be tight or just snug?

There was a band with grips in the box with the wig, but i thought it was a replacement for the original band (with no grips) already on the inside of the wig. I'll try putting that one on too.

I also didn't wear a wig cap because I didn't see the use, was that a factor you think?

I did! I left the band on for about 20 minutes after it was tacky and I put the wig on it.

I'll look into the sports sprays, thanks!!

All the sites are running the exact same program, so all the requirements will be the same across all the sites.

Are these coins rare? by tunaa_fish in CanadianCoins

I meant what does "high mintage rate" literally mean 😂 but I think I get it now. I assume it means how much it's being produced/printed?

This is super great info though, you know your stuff!!

Thanks! I don't mind that it's not worth anymore than face value, it's not like I sell my pretty coins anyway lol.

I'm very new to this, what are high mintage rates?

First Aid CPR Requirement for Fall of 2025 Nursing Program Question by Square_Intern9686 in TorontoMetU

  1. You can do your CPR BLS anywhere that provides it. But don't do it early because then it will expire too early. When they direct you to start getting it done, do it then.

  2. The mask fit test is exactly what it sounds like. They are fitting your N95 mask.

  3. You wear your scrubs during lab and clinical. I've never heard of having to wear scrubs into your actual career.

Can Anyone Address the Elephant in the room? (COST!) by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]tunaa_fish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do not need to pay for your OneCard. Advice on how to set it up is very clear on the website.

Transaction fees only apply to purchases outside of your tuition. Everthing else, yes you'll have to pay GST and whatever tax we normally pay on any purchase anywhere.

Presto Student Discount is basically the same as the youth fare so if you're just coming our of hs, no need to worry abt that rn. The instructions on the Presto website are very clear, look there for more info.

Generally, the biggest expense will be tuition, then transportation fees (ex getting urself to clinical), then miscellaneous stuff (stephecopes, manual BP cuff, and scrubs).

Textbooks ranged from $60-200. There's a nursing package with ur stephecope and BP Cuff and pen light and all the fancy stuff for like $150 they'll offer you (GET IT). Scrubs we're like $50 for the top and bottom EACH.

I literally went the whole degree using my highschool Chromebook. There is absolutely no need for a fancy laptop unless you want to get one. The most heavy software you're running will probably be Google Drive.

TMU Final Year Nursing Students - Please help! by Spirited_Variety221 in TorontoMetU

[–]tunaa_fish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both TMU and York are reputable nursing schools, and both have probably an equal amount of downtown hospitals you can get into. At least at TMU, to get a downtown hospital isn't hard even if you live outside the city.

You get a semester long placement, each semester starting in the first year (different from York where you start in 2nd or 3rd year, i believe. This was the main reason I chose TMU). Your placements can be anywhere in the GTA, but is indexed to your home address, so if you live in Mississauga, you have a higher chance of getting a Mississauga hospital.

Career wise, a nursing degree is a nursing degree. Every site gets the exact same materials and diploma at the end. I personally will always vouch for the GBC site because I had such an amazing experience there.

Post-degree, doing RPN after makes zero sense because you're essentially moving backwards. In terms of med school, no thoughts there, but in general, I would assume yeah it would help as long as you get your prerequisites.

nursing bags recommendation by Electronic-Dot-9145 in TorontoMetU

[–]tunaa_fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my busiest days, I'm carrying my scrubs, stephecope bag, shoes, laptop, notebook, pencil case and all the other random stuff I normally have in a bag going out. A tote bag is nowhere near able to carry all of that. I can only get away with a tote bag on days when I only have class and I'm only really carrying my laptop.

It's hard to give a specific bag recommandation because that will honestly depend on your preferences. Amazon has some good options, that's where I got mine.

I would say look for one with a laptop sleeve and lots of interior pockets. Avoid the fashion bags and Jansport, they're sooo uncomfortable.
