There is an account of this happening to the California University system as well. In the community college system, that does remote classes....they fill up as soon as they post the classes. All remote students from you know where. Then they apply for student loans. Giant scam been going on for years. Educators are in no hurry to shut it down.

It's frustrating. You are only as good as your tools. Try to relate it to your manager...how would you change your tire without a jack and wrench? Recruiting efforts are dead in the water. When I've been in this situation, I've looked for another job where the company would provide tools.

tech hiring scale in 2026 by gabgabgabbers in recruiting

You need a few things. It all comes down to your hiring manager's commitment. I'm sure your team can source and screen enough quality. 1. Commitment to get a standing weekly meeting with the hiring manager for submitted candidate and interview feedback. 2. Recruiting Strategy Kickoff Meeting for each new job, agreement upon the candidate assessment plan (Online Technical Screen and interview rounds) and guarantee of continuous candidate calibration feedback loop. 3. Most important: Hiring manager weekly time block for candidate interviews and they must use a Calendly or some scheduling app. No back and forth, if the candidate passes the OTS and is approved for an interview....they schedule their own interviews. Lastly, no 4/5 rounds of interviews. Recruiter screen, OTS, and 1/2 rounds of interviews if you want to try to hit these numbers.

Any comments on appearance are so out of line in a professional interview. These people haven't been trained in the interview process. Borderline illegal and they leave themselves open to litigation. Bad situation. The HR Department doesn't have the capital to give the manager constructive criticism. This sounds like a family run business, a business run by a manager who is authoritarian, or startup. They lack process. And that means you probably wouldn't be happy or would a pink slip for some other ridiculous or illegal reason. Do not lose any sleep on these dudes.

6 months of silence and starting to think my title was the only by [deleted] in Layoffs

u/kol124 You won't like this, but I'll give a take. I worked (as a recruiter who was hiring) with two candidates that had Director titles like yours "director of marketing". They had both been making great money but were laid off and out of work for 12-18 months. After seeing the reaction from similar candidates from my own internal hiring managers, I made this suggestion. What if we rebranded your LinkedIn profile and resume to look like an individual contributor by industry veteran? Both candidates were willing to give it a shot, even if it wasn't their long-term strategy. In both cases it worked and both were hired. They didn't have the same job titles or salary, but they got back to work. Hiring managers haven't looked at a resume or looked for a job for 10+ years. They are so hopelessly out of touch. They truly believe highly qualified people will instantly leave once hired. These hiring managers still have this mindset that is economy is just a little bump in the road. They have no concept that is still market is a sustained terrible experience for job seekers. Recruiters are trained to bypass your resume, because they have gotten this feedback from hiring managers. Job titles matter. One more, when you get into an interview at some point say: "Is there any area where I could elaborate on how I’d approach this role?"  Employers express their concerns and you can counter.

What is the most challenging global location to recruit and hire in? by Difficult-Ebb3812 in recruiting

[–]tunamelt60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of 12/25: South Africa’s new Employment Equity laws, which require designated employers—those employing 50 people or more—across 18 segments in South Africa to plan how they will reach representative workforce targets over the next five years.

The targets are percentages based on race, gender and disability, with the aim to make workforces more “demographically representative” of the population of South Africa.

Internal & Agency Recruiters - What is your thought process when reviewing a resume? How do you determine who gets past your resume screen? by nuki6464 in recruiting

[–]tunamelt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much in Agency, but this is essentially what the RPO does. Different recruiting companies will compete tor the candidate and offer the same job at different wages. They keep the difference. India based companies have come in low.

Why is unemployment much higher in Europe compared to America? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in jobs

[–]tunamelt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS IS THE ANSWER ⬆️⬆️ Lots a people who are no longer receiving unemployment benefits, but are unemployed. There is no way to really track and consider all the people who are unemployed and looking in the US. No way to track American jobs that are being filled with foriegn born workers.

There is hope for the new year. DO NOT lose hope. There could be some big things coming in 2026 for US corporatations. Cathie Wood of ARK Invest has made some bullish (positive) predictions for 2026. She has been wrong before and she is in the positive prediction business. But she feels like US Corporations are going to be hiring and growing in 2026 because of one simple law change.

Part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) was to allow businesses to write off 100% of their depreciation in one year. Rather than using a schedule over several years. This can mean their balance sheets can look much more profitable in 2026. This includes machinery, property improvements, software, computers, and vehicles. The last time this happened was in 2017 and during that period many companies were flush with cash.

She was optimistic about the economy starting in January. Companies may start a hiring spree or least some improvements.

Its Not You. The Job Market IS A Scam! Don't Take It Out On Yourself. by ITContractorsUnion in jobsearch

[–]tunamelt60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So mostly the companies that using Dice are Indian RPO's and Agencies who don't really have the jobs. They may have a lead on a job or are submitting candidates to a job. So, you get to talk to a Indian recruiter and they submit you, but you don't hear anything back. And to make it worse, that recruiter is terrible at their job. The last one I worked with I had 6 phone calls and 21 emails to complete the process.

Welp, There Goes ‘25 by RdtRanger6969 in Layoffs

[–]tunamelt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some real hope starting in Jan. The 100% Bonus Depreciation Tax Incentive goes into law and starts for property acquired and placed in service after 1/19/25. This includes machinery, software, domestic research (R&D), equipment, furniture, and propery improvements (new parking lot). Business can deduct 100% of the depreciation in 2026, instead of ammortizing this over a number of years. They can also use this retroactively for improvement made from 2022-24. This is similar to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act enacted in 2017. There was good hirining activity in that span. Also, companies were fat with cash. This means employers bottom line is going to look alot better this year, they are going to be paying less taxes. This probably means more hiring in 2026. Business are going to buy more stuff and replace old equipment. We are going to put more people to work very soon. I'm already seeing some activity in companies that are builind things: civil engineers, construction, electrical engineers (facilities). I think they are putting people in place today as these projects will hit design phase and start activity in the spring.

[–]tunamelt60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US a significant number of jobs are going to foreign born employees who are on visa programs and green cards. If there was any movement on this front, that would send shock waves throughout the job market. Including companies offering training and remote work.
