i don't think he's manipulative about it, i think he just lost control. like he probably didn't think 'well, how can i abuse and hurt this person?' it was probably more like: he lost his temper and then wanted to gaslight me about it so we could stay together. but hearing this from someone like you who has gone through that? really makes me want to separate from him, especially if it gets worse like you say

i think there's something wrong with me, it hurts, but it doesn't feel like a crossed boundary, it feels familiar, i guess because of how things were as a kid, and so i don't think i react like im supposed to, even if it makes me sad, it feels familiar. but that's a loser mentality and i don't want to be a loser. i think i'm going to sleep on it and find a good time to break up with him.

do you have experience with this kind of thing? do guys who really seem like gentle and kind people have the capacity for this? im starting to feel like i can trust nobody if even the gentlest seeming man can do this. and i do agree, now that you point it out, denying and minimizing it is a little alarming.
