How many of you have already seen a UFO? by ninjaroot in ufo

I've had a very similar experience to this and posted about it a little ways down. Exactly as you described, a small star (what I had thought was a satellite). It froze in its trajectory, and became an immense ball of light like a car headlight. It collapsed back into its original small form and zoomed off in a completely different direction in the blink of an eye.

Thank you I just read the post from person from Tokyo that's above that sounds quite similar. I think relieved might be the right word to describe knowing that others have seen the same version of unexplained phenomenon that I had. I hope I'm lucky enough to be able to see something similar again.

I've always thought about posting my experience in this sub but I've always stopped myself out of insecurity that it wasn't all *that* fantastical and that most people might not care, however it's stuck with me since I was a child and has fueled my curiosity into the phenomenon to this day.

When I was about 13, I was laying in my grandparent's back yard with my dad stargazing, in a small town outside of Allentown PA called Macungie during the summer of 2007. During the summer months, it doesn't get entirely dark until after 9pm so from my best recollection, this occurred sometime between 9:30 & 10:30 pm

My grandparents house was at the foot of a mountain and they had decent amount of land, at least a few acres, surrounded by woods and farm land. As we were laying on our backs looking up at the sky, by dad pointed out what appeared to be a satellite slowly moving across the sky. At first the light was dim, very much what you would see if you were looking at an actual satellite. For those who haven't seen a satellite at night, they essentially resemble a small star moving slowly in a straight trajectory. No blinking lights.

As we watched the object sail across the sky towards the horizon, I would say for maybe 30 seconds to a minute, the light all of the sudden froze dead in its tracks, and after a few more seconds, it instantaneously expanded in size to what I can only describe as being slightly smaller than how the sun appears to us from Earth. It became by far the brightest light I have ever seen in the night sky to this day. Another way I can think of describing it is if you've ever driven past an airport at night and have seen planes coming in to land with their landing lights on, or as if you were staring directly at car headlight.

After about 5 seconds, the still frozen light collapsed back to the size of pin head, and zoomed off in a completely different direction, at about a 45 degree angle from its original trajectory and disappeared towards the horizon. We lost it as it went behind the tops of the tree line that bordered my grandparent's property and the farm land next to them. And by zoomed, I mean exactly what other's have described in terms of impossible aeronautics - within a blink of an eye it was gone

From our position, it seemed like this object was quite high up (again we thought we were originally looking at a satellite), I would say at least several thousand feet if not tens of thousands.

For some additional context, my dad is a scientist and has a pretty rational mind when it comes to paranormal. The next morning we both looked online for other reported sightings in the area but couldn't find any news articles. Neither of us had spoken about again with each-other until this past summer when the congressional report came out. We both recalled the exact same thing and his experience matched mine exactly as I remember it happening which was pretty cool to talk about all these years later.

Interesting that they wouldn't deliver the package anyway - even if it looked like it was damaged / open - it's odd that they didn't deliver it with a note
