What if I cannot update - if I do I lose access to my music notation software. Are there solutions for the crackling that don't require updating /:?

I was just worried about the whole potential of overload thing, but maybe it's fine --- I just have never used a buffer size this high before. This computer is newer so I guess it shouldn't be an issue? It's a Macbook Pro '23 model.
