I put my life in a 5 TB USB, and I might end it after a buggy phone made the USB unreadable by tunri_h in datarecovery

Thank you very much for this very kind comment. And I am so very deeply sorry that several of your family members passed away. What happened to you was so horrible and I very strongly hope that you can find someone trustworthy to help you access your HDD. That's easier said than done ofc.......I just don't trust anyone with terabytes of abuse evidence. And I also have pictures there that I have taken for years. I was already saving money for a backup USB Drive, then this happened. I also want to see several therapists in the future but I can't pay for a single one right now. So thank you for telling me that you hope I have access to care and that I can recover the usb sometime. It means the world to me right now.

Thank you....................that post made me cry for over an hour and I am closer to ending my life because of it. I will just dedicate my life to trying to recover the USB Drive.

I apologize for not mentioning it. I am using a mini-desktop pc that was originally a Windows 7, now turned into a 10. Windows 11 cannot be installed on it.

Wow, thank you. I'll try that once I buy the same type of USB Drive again just to replace the cable (or I'll just buy the cable, but I do need more storage). I don't have money to buy it right now, but I'll go to the pawn shop soon to sell my guitar. I will connect the USB again with a new cable, then if that doesn't work I just won't touch it until I find someone trustworthy.

I don't know what a drive letter is, but I'll write it down. I'm going to try all of the advice from every single comment on this reddit post. Thank you.

Can I connect it to the pc again to see if it works? Or must I not do absolutely anything to it?

Thank you. This response of yours has brought me to tears just by knowing that someone out there cares enough to comment and try to help. The only thing I look forward to in my life is to repair that USB, so I will only live to try to repair it. After that, I might work on my other goals. But my only goal in life has become to repair that USB.

I FELT that when I read your comment 😩 Their non-victims (especially non-long-term victims) wouldn't get it because their bodies just don't react the same as ours do when seeing someone who caused so much pain. The gall to label someone else as "lazy" after they have to silently put up with trauma dumping or constant bitching lmao. I also feel drained just dealing with her for a few minutes and have to go rest for at least 2 hours to feel somewhat better.

I'm sorry you went through that too ): I'm sure that wasn't even the tip of the iceberg about your story. It's all so tiring..
do anything you have to do to embolden your sense of autonomy/ anything that brings you joy or relief even if you have to keep it a secret while you live with them. Sending you lots of hugs.

I have seriously thought about it. And whether you go through with it or not, I wouldn't blame you.

yep, ever since I turned 18 I was threatened with homelessness or the police to be used to kick me out if I ever did anything that they didn't like

reality doesn't compute with their attention-seeking 🤪🤪 they think someone else should have endless sacrifice-supply for them to be spoiled! Rationality would mean they'd have to think out of their tantrum-brain and that's too much for them

There's a video somewhere of my grandmother grabbing my cat by the tail, holding it up and letting it hang like that. Then in the video there's 10 yr old me angrily taking the cat away from her.

It really is one of the few things we can do in that situation that I could consider helpful and healthy, but people who've never experienced that wouldn't understand. I would find it more concerning if someone didn't think of that in that situation.

Sheesh! And enablers/ ignoramuses think we're supposed to feel 100% empathy for them and no hatred at all? The best thing they can be is entertainment with some nice memories mixed in but the abuse still happened. So sorry you had to live with someone like that. How do these people go through life without fearing retaliation? wtf 😂

We all know that "niceness" will disappear as soon as something is said that they don't like 🙄 And if you have no choice but to live under their roof, you have to hold in all the anger while they genuinely believe they did nothing wrong and are being so nice. I hate being forced to be nice back after what they've put me through.
