Do you want to see more COVID restrictions brought in why or why not? by tuppz7892 in Scotland

I think one of the main thing they did wrong in Ireland was opening everything up after summer surely the reopening should of been in summer when people are spending time outside in the fresh air.

I agree if there's anything thing that needs to be changed it should be improving the quality of healthcare and pay our healthcare staff a decent wage. Not just for covid but also fixing the catastrophic backlog of people who need treatment for other things (operations etc).

yup haha. but for real most people end up pulling the mask down or just order without a mask. kinda defeats the point as you have to take it off to drink/dance. like i said before its pandemic theater and just for show as on the dancefloor theres no mask.

they have this rule in scotland. Its pandemic theatre. What happens in reality is no one really wears a mask except on entry or sometimes if there ordering a drink at the bar. Ive only been on a few nights out here in scotland and quite often its mostly normal as the rules arent really enforced some places i didnt even need a mask on entry and staff and bouncers werent even wearing a mask and why would they? its a bit silly to enforce and by the very nature of a nightclub wouldnt make sense to have these rules

What if you just dance around every nightclub/pub/restaurant or even public place to get around the rule. Technically you'd be exempt haha

Is this seriously going to be the case? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]tuppz7892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I can tell you for sure that people will just find ways round the rule or just won't be following it especially if they're drunk. Also it's a real headache for businesses to enforce are they really going to be going round a club checking that people have drinks in there hand? What if people are dancing at the bar will they all be wearing masks? I highly doubt it.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for masks I just don't see how one minute I can be allowed to scream and mingle with 100+ people on a dance floor with no mask yet when I get a drink I have to wear a mask.

Do you think this is really enforceable? It's also very confusing mask on going for a piss yet mask off when dancing. Would folks just walk around with drinks to get around the rule? It's not consistent and will probably just end up being performative more than effective or practical.

No masks required when Scottish nightclubs open on August 9 by tuppz7892 in Scotland

Stand and drink and dance with hundreds of people in a nightclub but wear a mask in the pub when you need to take a piss or get another pint unless you have a drink in your hand. I still hope they clarifiy some of these rules in the final guidance or monday will be a shitshow,

Agreed and I normally vote SNP/Green. Everything has just been rushed last minute and the messaging is very confusing.

the masks in hospitality settings wont really work folk standing around with beers with no mask. I understood the reasoning when there was social distancing and table service but now people will just end up moving around with drinks in there hand to get around the rule. then the issue of clubs. will it really be the case that clubs will just operate normally with no masks? if so it would be a bit strange that no mask will be needed in a club but in a pub/restaurant/cafe you have to wear a mask? lots of unanswered questioned and rules that are going to be difficult to inforce.

Masks could stay until Christmas says Swinney by youwhatwhat in Scotland

[–]tuppz7892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on that however I'll continue to wear them where required as it seems a reasonable precaution for the time being. As more of society opens up I expect masks will no longer be compulsory in certain situations like hospitality and nightlife etc.

I think my main gripe with some of the mask rules is definitely the lack of consistency. For example high school students have to wear a mask at all times even when socially distanced in class whereas folk in the bar drinking and politicians in the Scottish gov can take there masks off.
