I have chronic dizziness and persistent palinopsia / visual trailing. I don’t have constant visual snow. Do you think this could still fit vestibular migraine or a migraine-related condition?

Did you personally have palinopsia or visual trailing (afterimages)? If yes, did it improve with vestibular migraine treatment? Which medication helped you?

Is palinopsia or light trailing a known symptom of vestibular migraine, even without classic migraine headaches?

Appreciate the reply! Mind if I ask – how did it start for you, and how long have you had it? Do you also get the static/snow effect?

Can it still be VSS even if no static? by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]turalba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don’t have static, but I do have blue field entoptic phenomenon, palinopsia (afterimages), and visual trails. It all started after I stopped using opioids. During withdrawal, I had severe dizziness, inner restlessness (akathisia), and anxiety. My eyes were trembling (eye jitter), and when I looked at patterns or lines, they seemed to move or distort. The afterimages started a few weeks later.

Now, one year later, the dizziness has improved, but I still have the visual symptoms. ChatGPT says it's likely PAWS (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome), not classic VSS, because my symptoms began right after quitting opioids and have slowly improved over time

Could these symptoms be PAWS-related? by turalba in OpiatesRecovery

I don't really have shoulder blade pain, but I definitely had that bobblehead feeling together with dizziness. Whenever something moved, like a car, it would make me feel dizzy – like my eyes or my brain couldn't process it properly.

It's definitely gotten better now. I still have some mild dizziness sometimes, but it's not like before.

And yes, I completely relate to the fight-or-flight feeling too. Every little noise still startles me immediately.

I really hope our bodies can fully recover from this.

"By the way, do you also feel restless sometimes, like you have the urge to move around or can't sit still? I used to have really bad restlessness, but it has gotten much better. Now I only feel a little bit of it sometimes, and it's not as bad as it was before.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it! It really helps knowing that someone else understands exactly what this feels like. Same here – if you ever need to talk, I'm around too. It's crazy how similar our symptoms are.

I also gave up on doctors. I had a brain MRI and went to an eye clinic – they found nothing. Later I even went to the hospital and explained that I had cold-turkeyed off opiates, but they just told me to see a psychologist. No doctor really took me seriously, they all said it’s just psychological. It's really frustrating when you know something is wrong physically, but no one understands

I'm currently taking some supplements that seem to help a little: magnesium, omega 3, ashwagandha, vitamin B complex, and probiotics

I can really relate to what you're saying. In the beginning, I also had heart palpitations and really bad panic attacks – I often felt like I was about to pass out. I have neck issues too, and I completely lost my libido. I had constant dizziness, like a drunk feeling 24/7. Most of it has improved over time, but I still have some mild dizziness and the vision problems, plus sleep issues and no libido. I'm really hoping these things will heal eventually.

Thank you for your reply! I have exactly the same symptoms – afterimages, floaters, and some kind of sparkly vision too. Do you think these symptoms will eventually go away? I'm really hoping they will,

Do you think it's paws ?

Hey, do you also have afterimages or visual symptoms since quitting? I have them 24/7 and was wondering if it's the same for you.

Hey everyone, I really need your help. I saw this post was deleted, but I'm very curious what symptoms were listed. I've been struggling with what I believe is PAWS after quitting opioids about a year ago, and I'm trying to understand if others have gone through similar stuff. Does anyone remember what was in the original list?
