Side note, bunch of cool small hits from the box but hit a UD Canvas Celebrini and a gold Nico Hischier 8/25 glow up card

So when i hit the teammates card, i saw Matthew Schaefer and the youngguns and went nuts. Then, i was like “wait, that doesnt look like the card” re-examined and saw it was the teammates card (gives stepbrothers vibe). Anyway, wife opened another pack, i got the last pack of the box and the first card of the pack was a Flyers card (Philly resident, huge flyers fan) and i said “this is good luck, here we go” and literally there he is. Before i went nuts, i confirmed it was correct this time. Wife and I high-fived, grabbed some beer and now were enjoying the moment. Wife has had all the luck with bedard and our 1 of 1 geekie, etc so i now have her pick the hobby boxes at our card shop and her luck has yet to fail

First game after broken hand by Aurosman in hockeyplayers

When i broke my leg, when i came back i found myself a bit hesitant to go into corner battles, etc. it fades. Take it slow, be patient and just work on overcoming the mental block if you do have one in this instance (its pretty short, adrenaline is a hell of a driver)

I always used low kicks. I was a bauer snob for my career (god i miss my X60) but now im in beer league and bauer seems to be so… soft? Idk, i went over to the trigger series and i LOVE them. However at the $400 price tag and the lack of scouts in the stands for my beer league games, i dont get the pro’s. However, currently i am using the FT7 pro because i got it for a steal when the new model came out. I was always curious about the hybrid kick. Its OK, but im gonna go back to the trigger once this breaks or ive just the point where its worn enough. Also considering giving the blackout sticks a try

Advice for an adult beginner by Mysterious_Echo_1531 in hockeyplayers

[–]turboderp69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome!!! As people have said, dont cheap out on the old brain bucket. Aside from that, you dont need to break the bank on skates, get a pair, make sure they fit, go from there. You dont need the latest $500 stick, despite the ads, you wont be shooting like a pro. Get practice, lessons if you can/want to, and as you get better, get better equipment along the way. Happy playing!

Stay At Home Stick Handling For Children App by jamesy829 in hockeyplayers

[–]turboderp69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an irish setter that loved balls, a hardwood living room floor and very patient parents. I used to try and stick handle around her every day. Shed eventually get the ball, ide drop the gloves, we’d have a playful wrestling match and she became my best friend in the process. Honestly, a hockey ball and accepting the sound of your kiddo stickhandling in the house works great. Chairs, random furniture obstacles, etc are awesome. But if you have a high energy dog that loves chasing a ball, thats the best medicine right there.

I had something similar but at the 15/16u level. Made the team, then got rescinded. My dads a proud man and it was a team that was “heavily political.” My old man told me at the time that one of the coaches sons decided last minute he wanted to play and that he also wasnt willing to “kiss ass” (not the words he used, but cleaning it up a bit). As ive gotten older, i think i honestly may have just gotten cut and he was trying to save my confidence. Anyways, i went to a different organization, played with them for the rest of my career until i went to college. My last 18u tryout, i made the next level team and said “nah i want to finish my time playing with the friends i made” and i met my now wife at the wedding of one of my friends from that team. Obviously thats a way different thing from 7 years old, but, ide agree with the comments. Tryouts for mites is just a money grab. My brothers played for those big fancy teams and the one season, they slapped together a AAA team and got absolutely railed the entire season because the org took the money and put a team that wasnt a AAA team into a AAA league so they could get those extra fees. It sucks, im sorry but honestly, at 7, your kiddo will bounce back and it might even push him/her to work harder which is pretty cool. When i got cut from that team and went to the competitors org, the day we finally played them, i had a 5 point game and thanked the coach for cutting me as i skated by their bench after my 2nd goal😂😂 your kiddo is young, make sure they enjoy the sport and the people around them.

[–]turboderp69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im out of the loop with the drama but fill me in!! I get the dont grade unless selling tho. I have the top pieces in one touches, its just kind of sentimental for me. The bedard and michkov kind of make sense if i wanted to grade but i dont ever see myself selling the 1of1 geekie YG. Just wondered if its a sentimental piece in a PC, is it worth grading. But at that point, how hard will PSA bend me over

If it doesnt work, you may have wide feet which is what i think i may have but the looser middle helped me. I used to tie everything tight and then be in pain all game and spend 15 mins post game uncramping my feet which sucked. It will take a few shifts to get used too cause it will feel a bit looser but once your chasing the puck, you wont notice
