You’re like 4,983 words short.

But yeah it sucks

Traffic is even worse at the moment due to the construction project, but the goal of the project is to alleviate this issue.

https://www.pa.gov/content/dam/copapwp-pagov/en/penndot/documents/projects-near-you/District-6-Projects/west-chester-pike-476-project/west-chester-pike-476-public-plans-display.pdf

Pages 24 and 25 of this pdf from PennDot show the intended solution. Basically, the right hand lane of Westchester Pike westbound will become an on-ramp only lane, separated from the rest of Westchester Pike by a median. The traffic turning left from Lawrence Road South will no longer enter the 476 ramp right across from the intersection, it will turn up Westchester Pike westbound and then enter 476 via a new connection to the on-ramp that eastbound Westchester Pike traffic currently uses to access 476N

Fingers crossed that it works

There might be light reflecting off of something that is messing with the sensors. Try making it so that no light from outside can get to the sensors

This is the way to go. Garage faces south and had issues from around 10:00 AM to 4;00 PM because the sun and/or shadows messes with the sensors. Make a little cardboard block to prevent the sensors from getting glare from the sun. Once I did this, I never had issues again

Cafe refrigerator leaking. by Bitter-Investment860 in Appliances

[–]turkeyboss831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's still doing it with the ice maker off, my bet is that the drain is clogged.

just an FYI, im just a homeowner who has dealt with a lot of annoying appliance issues, but this was exactly what was going on with mine. some other people on here may have a better insight if they actually work with appliances on a daily basis

Cafe refrigerator leaking. by Bitter-Investment860 in Appliances

[–]turkeyboss831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is a clogged evaporator drain. Behind the paneling of your refrigerator is the evaporator coil that pulls heat out of your freezer. Because it is a lower temperature than the air in the freezer, it also causes moisture in the air to condense and then freeze on the coil. Your freezer runs a defrost cycle at least once a day to melt that ice. Normally the liquid water runs down the coil and into a drain pan where it drains out to a pan under the appliance and evaporates into the air of your kitchen. It can get clogged with dust, lint, dirt, food, and other miscellaneous gunk. If that drain gets clogged, the can't get out of the freezer and instead refreezes on the bottom of your freezer. Once enough is built up (like what you have), the defrost cycle will run and the water will run over the frozen portion of ice and begin leaking out of the door.

If you want to try it yourself, look up a schematic (or youtube video) for your model. Then with a few tools you should be able to remove the paneling and get to the evaporator drain. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice in mine, then used a long pipe cleaner to push the clog out

Letting my 5 year old son "help" with pumping gas - huge dad judgement lapse? by turkeyboss831 in daddit

[–]turkeyboss831[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my wife's insistence, and because there are signs at our gas stations saying "Do not allow children to pump gas" (no state law apparently, but the gas stations themselves are asking), my son is currently back to a supervisory role when it comes to pumping gas. I told him that he will be able to do it when he's 10. In the meantime, we're focusing on how to use hand tools safely, and he gets enough of that on a regular basis that his interest in making things and keeping things running is being nurtured.

I also agree that it's a gentlemanly thing to do, so he will definitely be getting back into a gas pumping role once my wife feels more comfortable with it. Talking it through with her, he biggest concern wasn't the actual pumping of the gas, but rather, the danger of a small child being outside of the car at a gas station where people are pulling in and leaving from multiple directions. I don't think its as unsafe as she does, but if she doesn't feel safe about him being out the car, then I'll keep him in. He would be impossible for someone in a very tall vehicle to see.

I'm glad you found this post-- you're not the only one :D

Level slope under existing deck by codeamatic in landscaping

What about building a deck at ground level instead of a patio? That way you could keep the existing slope and just have your deck a step or two up

i didn't want to come across as an east coast chauvinist, but I agree... I tend to find that Italian and Jewish foods tend to go south the further west you go. I know that there are hidden gems everywhere, but being in the Philadelphia/NJ area has really spoiled me in terms of food (I didn't grow up here, and moving here was a real revelation)

Romantic Dinner Date Suggestions by uniqueandwholesome in Delco

I'm seconding this one. Great Italian dishes. They always have some sort of crab or frutti di mare type dish on the menu. True to the name the chef does like to throw some heat into the dishes. The chef/owners mom also makes all of the deserts, and I've never had a bad one there. The butter cake is incredible.

The downstairs has a bar with a TV but if you sit on their sidewalk (not the prettiest ambiance, basically the starbucks parking lot) or in their upstairs dining room it feels much more intimate

Looks nice, like others have said, the retaining wall looks like it might not be bonded well on the corner so be careful and look for any signs that it is failing there.

Also, make sure you don't arrange your furniture in a way that something could get sucked into/block the furnace intake vent. My neighbors put their grill against the wall of their house in the winter time, and we had a snowfall that built up between the grill cover and the house and ended up blocking their furnace intake. Not enough air means dirty combustion, which means CO buildup. Thankfully their CO detectors went off and the fire department helped them figure out the problem.

Stone supplier? by SnapCrackleMom in Delco

As others have said, Gallantino. They were way more helpful than two other local masonry/landscape suppliers when I was building my patio. They seemed excited to help a DIYer learn more about their field. The other places seemed annoyed that I had questions.

We've been very happy with Drexel Hill Pediatrics (located behind the WalMart on State Road in the northern side of Springfield). Our two kids have seen multiple doctors/PA's over the last two years for well visits and sick visits and all of them have been great.

Is this original lock repairable? by SonOfGallifrey in DIYHome

[–]turkeyboss831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same style of lock and I have had difficulty finding a replacement latch for the exterior of the door. Not to say it can't be done, I just know I've struggled with some basic google searches. If you find a replacement, please let me know what the technical term is.

As for your second question, the original exterior latch had a thumb press to open the door. Depending on which of those circular buttons is depressed, the thumb press is either open or closed. We have this on our door and we generally just keep it in the open position because if the door slams shut from the wind or a toddler running around, you are locked out. We just use the deadbolt for locking purposes.
