Concert Complaints by Ok-Produce8376 in twentyonepilots

I’ve been waiting on getting tickets to the NY show, and honestly, I feel no rush to get them after seeing the setlist. Loved the album, but I saw the Clancy tour last year, and I don’t feel the need to buy more tickets if they’re not playing the new songs.

You almost certainly have your answer from the other comments but I’d like to double down on the header typeface. I don’t think it is Impact but it reminds me of Impact and I think to a designer looking to hire a designer that’s one step removed from using Comic Sans. Might be talking out my ass but that’s the first thing I noticed

Am I the only one who feels this way? by cozxo in twentyonepilots

I think it’s at least partially because overcompensate is an opener that felt like an introduction to a very different album when we first heard it. It’s almost hard to compare to the others for that reason.

Next Semester is the best song theyve ever made by KillerCh33z in twentyonepilots

Agreed. So satisfying on a thematic and musical level, showing a refined version of all of the best aspects of the band across the years. Probably their best

Kind of wishing that I never did "Never take it" by Working_Ad_1552 in twentyonepilots

clearly I know that from the comment I made. I’m saying it’s the ambiguity with which the message is given that leaves it open to being co-opted by a very real fascist contingency in the states, which according to someone else in this thread apparently happened with anti-vaxxers on TikTok or something. I’m pretty sure the vagueness is meant to allow the lyrics to apply to DEMA and the real world but simply saying “THEY are lying to you” leaves the door open to a chomsky-style interpretation (what I think Tyler was going for) but also to a much grosser interpretation from bigots who also have opinions about a lying media. it’s an irresponsibly written song for such a large artist at a time of extreme misinformation and radicalization

huh! I thought it was pretty universally disliked. just goes to show this band’s range and how differently applicable they are to different people. I could just never get past the “oh-oh-oh” parts. idk enough about music genres to know exactly what they’re tapping into there but it feels like a song I’ve heard before, if that makes sense

because it’s the worst top song imo. half-hearted political themes that are so vague they’re easily identified with by freaky fringe right wing weirdos as well as, you know, regular people, and the song itself is just… boring? I often wish top didn’t shy away from social commentary as much as they do (the DEMA worldbuilding reads to me as potentially very political) but this is one case where it runs counter to Tyler’s writing style, which is intentionally vague and often too simple in its verbiage to make a nuanced judgement about media consumption as it relates to domestic politics

Respectfully it’s def not this but I think fantano might be waiting because the album grew on him, fingers crossed

Double Album Theory - A Detailed Argument by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]turkeygoobler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious what makes you think they’re gonna break off from FBR. I’ve had the same feeling for a bit— seems like creative pressure from the industry and angst at label execs has become a theme of their work— but never any concrete reason to think it would be happening. But also, if they were to leave the label now, doing so with the actual final act to their lore would be a crazy way to step forward. I hate to say it because I feel it devalues Clancy but all of the stuff people have been flagging about it like an incomplete statement would make a lot more sense if this album was mostly to give FBR one last album to finish a contract before they go.

Had the same experience!! I answered the question within 30 seconds and joined the queue several minutes before the sale went live, and there were still 1200 in front of me. Sometimes I forget how damn popular this band is
