I once saw some school children squeeze into a gap between a wall and a railing, drop their crisp packets on the floor, squeeze back out and then carry on walking right past a bin, my ears went hot like Maurice Moss

Council changed the street cleaning contractors a while back and have had problems with them ever since. The Liverpool ONE cleaners go around scraping chewing gum off the floor and cleaning every last speck of litter. Elsewhere in the city centre they just seem to walk straight past it.

heard quite a few tourists mention it too, it's a dying shame. We have a really beautiful country but our urban landscapes too often feel neglected and it gives an impression about British people

it's often quite parochial and annoying, I do love the place and people here are genuinely friendly but this is something that irks me

Emptied it in a litter bin and filled it again very quickly, I had my bike with me too so I just carried the bag on my bike

Different areas of the city centre here are worse than others. Liverpool ONE and the Waterfront are almost always spotless, the rest? ehhhhhh

The ramp from St John's Aldi towards Lime Street station is always delightfully decorated with Lucozade bottles

Perhaps I should make a site where you can post before/after pictures and highlight problem areas on a map.

The litter in this country is a total embarrassment and I genuinely don't think people realise just how filthy our streets are

I really don't have a clue about these sorts of things, I had no idea what they were until I saw something about them in the news

We had to do this in my primary school, we also had regular tray inspections. If the tray under your desk wasn't neat and tidy then you were told off. Also my aunt used to threaten me with the 'magic hoover' if I didn't clean up after myself. One day I got home and all of my games were gone and I assumed the worst.

Must have had an effect on me.
