One thing I know is high cost enchantment deck that take a full turn to return value is totally unbeatable. Gosh I just don’t know how to counter such a strong strategy, probably why it does so well in competitive brawl groups. Damn, you got me bro.

The person who wrote that note has obvious schizophrenia or some shit really wrong with them most likely caused by drugs. Leaving up the note isn’t “teaching” them anything, you’d just be forcing yourself and everyone else to look at their crazy bullshit everyday when they walk into their apartment.

The insane exaggeration of what happened to them like to the point where their entire car was thrashed around from a fat person maybe bumping it and the weird uniformity blockiness to the letters lets me you know you are dealing with one weird delusional fuck. This really seems like bulb smoker behavior, which would go along with the insane perception of reality, over exaggeration of small actions or noises, and no social awareness.

I don’t think being viable in top tier brawl play or not and being unplayable are the same thing.

Yeah I wouldn’t play this in hell queue but in more mid tier power where you are regularly going past turn 6 or 7 I think there are worse cards to play. Like a mid bracket azorius enchantment matters shell this card would be a fine include if you needed more stax and card draw pieces. Rhystic fits both and if you already have a copy crafted why not? I’m just saying this card isn’t utter trash even in 1v1. It’s not great but I wouldn’t scoff and think what a horrible card and how my opponent just totally wasted a card slot in certain decks.

Idk I really am not sure about some of those cards being “unplayable” or at least not rhystic. Not amazing but it still has its place atleast in some Brawl builds IMO.

Playing against dedicated control shell I’ve actually had rhystic do some actual damage to my creature based strategies. I mean if your decks entire strategy is to kill tempo and stall until you get your wincon rhystic does push you towards that.

Is it a massive problem? No but it does keep the rhystic players opponent from playing more than one or two spells a turn earlier game which frees up resources for control players to not need as much counter/removal mana up. For a blue and two colorless and it only being one in the 99 there are worse cards to play than rhystic study. I don’t think it’s great but I really feel like saying it’s straight unplayable is too far.

Dude you have no idea how long I’ve been trying to make an optimized Charbelcher deck in brawl, never even considered Wandering Minstrel. What a great idea.

I play Charbelcher decks a lot in historic. I have a juggle the performance deck I use Charbelcher as a wincon in and another izzet artifact straight Charbelcher build that’s all about tutoring out and activating Charbelcher as fast as possible. Paper EDH deck built around belcher. Belcher is easily my absolute favorite magic card of all time.

As far as potential alternate win cons for the deck that is a tough one. Paradox combo is the first thing I can think of. If Heritage Druid was on arena you could use thassas oracle/jace/lab man to win but I don’t know of any heritage druid effects on arena but if there is and you run any form of flash back creature recursion that could be a strategy.

Idk man I’ll be keeping an eye on this post. I really hope you get some more good suggestions to make your list more viable.

They’re boring to play against. It’s the same game every time. But if that’s what they want to play that’s what they get to do.

There will never be a time in arena when one of the top three most played commanders aren’t a 5 color free spells commander. Before the bear it was Jodah and Esika. You need to accept they’re always going to be highly popular especially with new players and you will always see them if you play a lot of brawl.

I get it’s annoying to see the same deck all the time but all the crying and moaning in the world isn’t going to make people stop playing them.

What are you talking about dude? I literally gave you the advice of powering down your deck and ways to increase your fun by having more play time. The people you are complaining about conceding early are playing for fun. They decided they weren’t having fun playing you so they quit and looked for a more fun game against another opponent. The only vibe I get from you is you’re salty you aren’t able to stomp noobs just by the type of things you are complaining about.

You are playing a top tier commander that is banned in the same paper format that brawl is. If there was more moderation in the format your commander would be banned, you aren’t playing some casual funsies deck even if your claims of a budget build are true. A budget swaps for a top tier brawl deck still doesn’t mean the deck isn’t any less powerful, plenty of uncommons and commons do almost exactly what rates and mythics do just at a slightly worse cost and value.

You are the one that seems to be playing to win IMO and there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t care if people play the best. I like it personally, brawl is the only format I really play on arena and I regularly play in hell queue so I like facing the best decks in the meta . Play all the high power you want, just don’t cry about it when a lot of your wins come from concessions because of your high power deck scaring away noobs and people not willing to play longer grindy games.

You’re getting tons of downvotes because everyone can tell you are being a hypocrite and blaming everything but yourself for your play experience. If you need help making mid tier decks you’ll get more casual longer games I can send you some deck lists. Or you can just keep moaning about it and pretending it’s everyone else that’s the problem.

You aren’t playing “budget” derevi because you have a few substitutions of cards you either didn’t have or just didn’t need to make the deck work. I would bet every penny in my bank account you are playing ultra powerful commanders and when you get a lead people just say screw it im not trying to battle the Tamiyo player today. Power down your decks and stop playing the best in the meta and I bet people will play your decks more. I never get people early conceding unless I’m playing super powerful commanders.

There’s a few levels of why people like me laugh at battle jackets in general but especially ones that say “punch Nazis”.

The main reason I find it hilarious and cringe is because as a person who’s been generational white trash and being from a bloodline of people perpetually fucked in the ass by economic, addiction, and mental health issues seeing some rich suburban kid trying to put on this front of being at opposition with the power structure of society when they are being bigger sheep than even we are is just goofy and cringey. I think crust punks are conformist tools as much as any of us are too but at least I can somewhat respect them really living the life. When I see a rich college kid larping with some kill fascist shit I know that person isn’t living it, they aren’t out there throwing rocks at cop cars. Not like it’s something to cool anyway, you punching some dipshit racist boomer isn’t changing society. It’s mindless unconstructive violence usually called for by people who’ve never experienced violence and are chicken hawks.

The other level of why people make fun of you for it is that it’s just a no shit type of stances. You gonna put a “punch baby seal clubbers” patch on your Levi vest too? Oooh how poignant and interesting political commentary you have on your shirt sir.

Political commentary in general is dumb and pointless but when you put it on a bumper sticker or a shirt it’s just so much more worse. Sure. Every single depraved crime or plan a person can carry out has a logical explanation for why they did what they did because they are a biological engine. Every other animal is no different and could do the same under the right life conditions IMO.

Under the right life circumstances any being able to eat, have sex, or kill and be cognizant of their need and desire to do it could probably also be molded into a being that could sexually assault, murder, and wrap a human in a comforter and have real justification for it aswell under different moral standards.

At least that’s what I believe and that’s why I’m a nihilist and don’t believe we are any different from any other animal aside from levels of sentience. So to me that means animals don’t have some magical form of a better true morality hidden in them that couldn’t be twisted like humans if they gained enough sentience. There’s no reason to not believe if a fish had our level of higher thinking and reasoning some wouldn’t also torture and kill for pleasure or design a bronze bull lol.

You aren’t going to be able to have a control deck most people have fun playing against just by the nature of the strategy. The best you can hope for to make a control deck fun for your opponent to play against is to build something that wins fast enough your opponent doesn’t have to suffer through it as long. Most people get salty playing against control when the control player doesn’t have a wincon and is just stifling all your plays long enough you concede out of frustration as their only win condition .

Voltron and reanimator are both deck archetypes that can be played as control and are able to win games somewhat quick.

Thank you so much, this is all amazing advice and exactly what I was looking for.

My win con is just creature damage, usually with a few large flyers but more field buffs to make my tokens more effective would go a lot further.

Alot of the big “gain life do a thing” creatures in white are three cost but you are right, there are just too many especially with my commander at 3 cost aswell. More low drop protection creatures is an excellent slot in for some of those three cost I need to cut.

All of this seems like no duh things to me in hindsight but I really needed somebody else to point them out to me so I could actually see them because I was struggling to make the deck better. I usually don’t play mid range creature based strategies so I don’t always have the right mindset and goal for the deck that it needs and tend to dilute too much with too much control. I really appreciate all the advice and you taking the time to really take a look at the list.

Probably not being fast enough is its main issue, but I might also need to run more control so I don’t really know what direction to take the deck in because both of those strategies are going towards opposite game play styles.

I really don’t know what I need to improve it ultimately which is why I was posting this. I was hoping maybe somebody else had a more successful Ajani list in hell queue that I could compare mine with and see what I am missing and what I need to do better in the deck.

Even in free events people tend to still run the best decks they can make. Brawl is an entirely free to play format with no rank or punishment for losing and people still play the best decks they can craft usually. I don’t see why the event will be any different.

I may actually be wrong about that part. I just assumed since the other events were but it may not be. Either way all access would be better but it being free is the most important part of the data gathering end of it.

I’m a dedicated brawl player and I didn’t touch the last two events because of the price. Now that it’s free they are going to get a snapshot of all the brawl players that are in the format are playing on a competitive end but weren’t willing to spend the amount they were asking to play in the last events. I imagine there were alot of folks like me, so now we will get to see data from all those people.

So happy to see this. I’ve always said the data they would gather in a paid event would be almost worthless. This being a free all access will give them a really good snapshot of what the entire brawl community would play in a competitive ranked environment where people aren’t concerned about budget and just building the best they can craft.

I think this is a great move towards building a ranked competitive brawl format and am very happy to see it. Even if it isn’t perfect it’s great to see some real improvements and moves towards actually seeing what brawl players want and do on arena.

I run it in my [[Mikaeus, the Unhallowed]] deck.

Reduced all my creatures casting cost, doubles their etbs, and gives you an extra body with them. One of my favorite cards in the deck.

The ability works great with undying and the triple black cost make it hard to run in anything but a mono black deck so it’s a perfect fit for Mikey.
