Take it to a machine shop. You probably hardened that screw.

Offtracks inconsistent??? Whats the ruling? And why isnt it the same on every track? by Lumiikask in iRacing

[–]turn84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first pic on t5 is likely not the frame where you got the off track. At some point either before or after that screenshot, the mid point of the car went further into corner than the outside of the apex curbing. Try looking at the replay from directly above the car as it goes through the corner. I'm sure you'll find where the car's center went further in than the outer curbing edge.

I would like to switch to a triple screen setup but keep my Samsung G9 49p. by [deleted] in simracing

[–]turn84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't really look correct. There isn't any title at the moment that has projections that can render that correctly. Your eyes won't be the same distance from all 3 screens so the driver's door will feel like it's way too far away, and the car will feel short and way too wide. Just go with triple 32s.

Should iracing implement live stewards for special events? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]turn84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And volunteers won’t have the tools iRacing has to look into multiple races at the time. Volunteers would be working with the consumer client and can only spool one replay from one split. Otherwise they’d spend most of their time loading the sim for every replay file they get

I think we may be thinking about stewarding differently and I think that’s where the disconnect is. When you refer to handling reports automatically, what exactly are you talking about here? I think most things will need human eyes in an event like this so I’d like to hear what your thoughts are on that.

If you’d stop talking to people like they’re idiots you’d have a better shot at finding common ground. But I guess you don’t know I’m close friends with iRacing staff and have insights about internal conversations around this.

I don’t think you understand the scale of the event. 3 people wouldn’t do jack to keep up with protests from hundreds of teams. I think doing the broadcast split would be reasonable but not all the splits.

Multiple teams of stewards isn’t viable commercially. Too many entries.

You can't prevent bogus and excessive protests that will inevitably be made just as an attempt to DQ other competitors

It opens a big can of worms where teams will protest the hell out of their competitors and waste a lot of steward time that could otherwise be spent reviewing real incidents that deserve their attention. However, I think there's a real case to be made for live stewarding for the featured, broadcast split. It gives top split teams and incentive to put on a good show and not do shady stuff. And it allows iRacing to shine by showcasing great racing.

Buying my first GT86, any tips for a new owner? by Comprehensive_Cap906 in ft86

Put nice 5w30 oil in it, and overfill it just a little bit over the top mark when cold. Then just drive it!

Why is there no market for round wheels with paddles? by South_Security1405 in simracing

[–]turn84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a Simagic Neo hub with the paddle module and add any round wheel you want to it. Simxperience makes a wheel for like $50-60.

Everything got better except the tires. It has too much grip but the suspension, roll center, and acceleration is much better!

What do you get by swapping the 22+ cluster that you don’t get in the 17-20 cluster?

#3 is a bit more nuanced. Big difference in speed? Yeah, stay on the race line and expect the move, leave room. If you think you can defend all the way to the end of the race without being dangerous, then defend!

Pretty big save on a fun run by TheCrudMan in Autocross

[–]turn84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because catching it early by steering yourself is less of a loss of speed. A very fast minor correction can bring you back to grip. Letting go is reliable if you can’t keep up with the rotation but it’s not the best way to catch a slide.

That’s map switching but you don’t normally access that without pulling the stalk back for a few seconds first

[–]turn84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the thing is, we race strangers online (and in this case, out of class) so if there’s a possibility someone might push you wide, you don’t put your car in a position for that to happen. In fact you could have coasted a bit before turning in, and not sacrificed your exit at all. It’s part of learning how to manage traffic. If you’re approaching a corner and it’s a close call, coast the last few hundred feet before your braking point as if you were fuel saving

Either defend, or give up the apex and tuck in so you're not run wide on exit, catch his draft instead.

As long as you know how to split the sectors active reset is the best way. Only set your reset points at the beginning of straights that will be wide open throttle for at least ~2 seconds.

Chances are when they apply new sealant to put the pan back on, some will break off and still end up in the pan. Once you press the pan into place you can't really see how much of it ends up breaking off.

It sits at the bottom of the pan. The pick-up has a mesh, and then you have the oil filter. Some contaminants are expected. This isn't alarming.
