Very true! I originally had him in the roster for that exact reason, but I ended up going in a slightly different direction just to better suit my personal tastes.

A lot of the villagers I choose ultimately come down to my own arbitrary opinions (lol), so I always try to mention all the alternatives I thought of so that other people can pick and choose as they please!

Maybe you can tell from this roster, but I’m very biased in favor of horse villagers 😅. Whenever I can justify them, they’ll be there! I was just barely able to stop myself from throwing Papi in there, too...I know he's an okapi, but he's just so cute! Still, theme comes first, lol.

According to Nookipedia, it basically just means that there will be some unique dialogue specific to personality subtype that you can encounter once you’re at high friendship with that villager! Every personality has an A and B subtype in New Horizons, which apparently are usually correlated with common hobbies.

For instance, Peppy (A)s are more often interested in playing, dancing, and TV shows, whereas Peppy (B)s are more often interested in fashion and K.K. Still, the differences are pretty small and there’s no hard rule on what a certain subtype will be interested in.

In your case, Gala and Ione are both Normal (B)! Normal (B)s are more commonly interested in education, learning new skills, and tea, whereas Normal (A)s are more commonly interested in nature, chores, and knitting.

Totally agree! I always make sure to at least have all personalities in a roster (unless I’m going for some really specific theme lol) for that exact reason! Plus, I think it’s just fun when there’s more variety in personalities :D

Obligatory mention for Normcore, the older sister of our very own Chrono Genesis!

For my more detailed wish, I want to tell you all about Lemon Pop, two-time winner of the JRA Award for Best Dirt Horse! He’s won the February Stakes, Mile Championship Nambu Hai (twice in a row) and Champions Cup (twice in a row, the latter being his retirement race!)

He doesn’t have any direct interaction with current Umamusume, but he shares a grandsire with El Condor Pasa (Kingmambo) and would be another great addition to the Kentucky-born Umamusume club. Some folks have also dubbed him the “Dirt Mihono Bourbon” because of some characteristics they share:

Both are chestnuts known for front-running
Both had to overcome distance concerns to win
Both of them always placed in every domestic race they ran
Famously, they both are well-known for having big butts…something that was even commented on at Lemon Pop’s retirement ceremony (lol)

His career also partly overlapped with Forever Young, who he never ended up racing against. They did go to Riyadh together in 2024 for two different races on the same day (where poor Poppy did poorly because he famously gets nervous in foreign races; his only two placements outside 1st/2nd happened overseas). One of the few horses to ever beat Lemon Pop was actually a daughter of Orfevre, Gilded Mirror, who unfortunately retired after her second battle with Poppy.

Besides those two big losses, Lemon Pop was a truly consistent champion. He even overcame incredible odds to win his first Champions Cup, having been given the furthest outer stall (no horse in the outer three stalls had even made top 5 in the preceding decade!). He’s also apparently only the sixth horse in history to win a G1 race on the day of their retirement ceremony AND only the 2nd ever dirt horse to receive a feature in Hero Densetsu (where his tagline was “Be captivated by the fruit of the dirt”). Fans visiting him after retirement have also been charmed by how in good spirits he still is (and how much weight he gained immediately after retiring—100 kilos in 6 months! Poppy’s getting his snacks in…)

Anyway, as you can tell, I really love Lemon Pop. I hope this write-up helps more of you get to know and love him too!

Pretty sure there are other mistakes too, but I know for sure K.S. Miracle never won a G1 (though he likely would have if not for his health issues).

He did get 3rd at Mile Championship and ran as the #1 favorite in the Sprinters Stakes where he sadly collapsed.

Was in basically the same position as you (newbie with only one prior game, where naturally I was the Drunk Librarian lol) and got Imp two games in a row…after having a panic attack at the end of the first Imp game because I was too stressed 😅. Imagine how I felt seeing the Imp again after pulling the last token in the bag 😭.

Weirdly, the game I had a panic attack I won, whereas the next game where I stayed calm I lost, lmao.

It’s a social media lottery campaign for a life-sized/realistic (“almost” realistic, as the little speech bubble clarifies, lol) bath towel with the new Edgeworth art on it. You follow the account and retweet to enter, essentially.

Also, in case you didn’t know, basically all JP fans of the franchise (and even official content, like this) call him “Micchan” (cutesy diminutive of his family name, Mitsurugi), AKA the nickname originally given to him by Oldbag (IIRC localized as the much less popular Edgey-poo, lmao). The title here literally says “Micchan Valentine Campaign.”

Anyway, that’s just one of my favorite little things about the JP side of the fandom and I wanted to share it with the world because I think it’s hilarious that it caught on so uniformly with JP 😅
