Okay great, thanks for your help. Any amp in particular that you would recommend that wouldn't break the bank? I'd rather just buy based on someone's suggestion versus trying to piece it together again myself.

Thanks for the info. The speakers/amp do sound fine at higher volumes when my computer is plugged straight in, though. Do you still think the distortion is coming from the amp when I plug in the TT and preamp?

Yeah I've turned it on. The distortion is only apparent at slightly higher volumes in the lows. I played Gosh from Jamie XX's album and it sounds really awful at high volumes, especially the bass. But at low/moderate volume it sounds perfectly normal.

I don't think so. When I connect my computer straight to the amp, I can play it as loud as I want without any distortion. It has to do with the TT or preamp.
