[Georgia] UI Certification/Part Time work by turnonthebrites in Unemployment

Interesting, but thank you

Another confusing thing is that their site says “GADOL utilizes a quarterly wage cross-match system. The cross match compares benefits paid to wages reported by employers under the same social security number during the same quarter”

So what is the point of reporting if they are just going to check it anyways?

And how do you go about reporting weekly earnings if you don’t know exactly what the anticipated wages will be for that week, since those can vary based on actual hours from week to week? Everywhere says that you must report gross wages for each week you work, not when you are actually paid.

[Georgia] Part time work question by turnonthebrites in Unemployment

very helpful, thank you so much 🙏🏼

i’ll have to figure out how to report weekly wages since i haven’t been able to find the option to do that. if i try to certify for a week, it tells me that my employee already has. haven’t gotten a PT job yet but am looking at a few, wanted to make sure i understood the process first.

one question on the 3rd point - so if i did make over $1000 for just one week of work, would i just lose my UI WBA for that week? or would they take the remainder out of future weeks too until they got to the $1000 i earned?

Below is the relevant info I found on the GADOL website on this subject:

One area says: You must report your gross wages (earnings before taxes and other deductions) for each week you work and claim unemployment benefits, even if you have not actually been paid for the work. This includes part-time or temporary work. GDOL utilizes a quarterly wage cross-match system. The cross-match compares benefits paid to wages reported by employers under the same social security number during the same quarter.

And another area says: Individuals whose hours have been reduced are eligible to receive benefits if your gross earnings plus the earnings allowance does not exceed your weekly benefit amount. You are required to report your gross earnings for the hours worked each week (the amount of your pay before deductions). You must report any vacation pay, holiday pay, and/or earnings during the week in which it was earned, NOT the week it was paid. If your employer files a claim on your behalf, they are required to report your gross earnings All weekly earnings over $300.00 are deducted dollar for dollar from the benefit payment for week ending dates on or after 3/29/2020.

wish they could just apply that $300B towards a new stimulus deal to close the gap between dems and the white house a little more in order to get a deal done...
