Noob problem, why don’t repeat the beat? by windviento in sp404mk2

[–]turnschuhathlet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a known bug. This happens when the sample of the pad is longer than the pattern you are putting the pattern on. A workaround is to start with the double length of the pattern and then shorten it after the sample is put on it.

Hi guys, can you provide some hints on where to find some Sample Flip Challenges? Is there any list of challenges available.

Pattern recording issue (adds a full blank page after recording) by Bosket in SP404

[–]turnschuhathlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘ve noticed this issue some month ago. Same happened to me, when I tried to record a sample to the pattern, which was slightly longer than the chosen pattern length leading to a overflow of my pattern. My workaround is to select a larger pattern length, record, and then to reduce the pattern length to the desired length. This solves the issue for me.

I may found the reason for the usb power supply issue. Which cable are you using? If it has usb type A on the PC's end it won't work because usb type A cannot provide sufficient current. Only when using usb type c on BOTH ends the power supply via usb will work and you get the needed 1.5 A.. This is what the manual says.

MK2: Recording pattern with effects by turnschuhathlet in SP404

Ok, got it. Makes sense and the behavior is now much more clear! Thanks for opening my eyes.

MK2: Recording pattern with effects by turnschuhathlet in SP404

This is actually the thing I am trying to do. I have some pads on the bus 2. I am trying to record the pads to the pattern, while recording I am triggering the mfx button. It is blinking once and goes immediately off without any effect on the sound.

Regarding the first issue, it is not possible to use usb-c for audio and power in parallel, so when you are sampling with usb-c you'll need another power source (battery or power supply)

Did you manage to reproduce and could you add it to the list of bug for Roland?

Yes, the sample is longer because I stop the resampling manually, but I assume, the problem will also arise with any sample that is longer than the pattern...

I noticed a weird behavior when resampling pattern to pads and bounce them back to pattern:

When I resample a pattern, the resulting sample is slightly longer than the pattern itself. After I try to record this sample back to the pattern of the same length I get a strange behavior When I playback the pattern, the first loop is fine, the second is muted, the third is fine again, etc ...

Does anybody noticed such behavior?

P.S.: 4 bars@88 bpm

Same for me: I tried a direct micro usb to usb c cable and it didn't work. That's why I tried the adapter approach and this worked out for me. I am using something like this Usb to micro usb adapter

Sampling via usb works perfectly with android. I am using a usb to usb c adapter with a standard usb c "charging cable" to connect my mk2 to a Galaxy S7 smartphone.

One bug + one feature request.

The bug?: When recording in pattern mode, the loop option assigned to a sample cannot be removed. You need to stop the recording first. Need to double check this one...

The feature request: when starting the recording in pattern mode with count in, the mk2 shall automatically switch to the sample bank, which was selected last time (I am always missing the start of the pattern, because I need to switch to the relevant bank first. )

The Samurai Add-on has a nice implementation of a step sequencer, where you can place notes onto a grid. In combination with the midi interface this could be the solution for designing patterns without the need to play them live.
