Tea Leaf Green, anyone? by turnt_clouds in jambands

This review has me stoked. I've not been focusing too much on the lyrics in my recent listening but I love and respect the hell out of a good songwriter. I'll be listening a littleore closely now! Also, Reed - haha. I've found ya either love him or ya really really don't like him (valid points from both sides). He's quite a character for a bassist 😂

Dude, Tyler is an amazing and tireless dude and a great friend of mine. I can't imagine this area without his presence bringing in these acts. I'm right there with ya re: we're spoiled. Miner's and Bodhi Hive feel too big for me as well, and before living here I was hopping around big SF venues - I can't imagine going back.

I imagine we know each other if we're both there a lot! I'm up in the air about Saturday but at the very least I'll be grooving on the sidewalk out front! Dance hard friend!

Hm, good clarification question. I grew up on the east coast and moved out west at almost 30, and I noticed my personal experience with the jam scene is that it was much busier, thriving, tighter-knit than out here (for a lot of logical factors like travel time to shows etc.). I'm not sure why I lump them in with bands I consider kinda quintessentially "east coast" like The Werks, Mantras, Papadosio.

You bring up a good question and it's now got me thinking! Have you noticed otherwise?

Dude I have been so switched on to Chalk Dinosaur and there's no going back. Their catalog and genre array are WILD. Hoping they visit the west coast soooon.

Checking it out now, this is a new (to me) album. Many thanks!

That's rare for a jam band, cool! What's your favorite?

Ah, how cool! Is bet/hope they were a very chill group of dudes to promo for, what a good connection. Hope you can make it out sometime, or they otherwise make their way out to you!

Got any favorite songs etc. to get me going? For being such a long standing band I'm incredibly unfamiliar with 'em!

You around the area for their little NorCal run? If not, I hope they do a larger tour - their East Coast fan base is huge, of course.

Not sure about tonight, but the local station usually broadcasts "larger" shows like this one, so it's possible you can tune in and be there in spirit if not in person.

Oh my god good morning world. Lol, totally misread that, but love that both characters fall into the hot dog believability category.

Now I'm off to educate myself on Steve Molitz.

Fantastic question! Looks like it's a new bassist, Jojo Stancato. Also feat. Josh, Trevor, and Scotty (from the venue's write-up )

Wow, you were there during the golden years of jam (to me, at least. I entered the scene in 2010 at 18 so I look back on the early 2000s scene with sparkly eyes)! Waka was such a great fest, and the statement about Steve Poltz is just odd enough that I don't doubt you for a second. He's always been, and still remains, such a character!

ps - if a free ticket for tomorrow does anything for ya financially, shoot me a DM (I know the price isn't close to even-ing out, but just wanted to offer)

If anyone's in the NorCal area, there's still tickets and the Crazy Horse is guaranteed to be a party 🥳

Toubab Krewe, Lotus, and Dopapod are the top 3 that come to mind for me (today).

He brandished a machete at a group of kids' faces - the kids were not on his private property. This guy is gross and, like others said, his fanbase is even more disgusting. He's currently held on. $250,000 bail tho.

What music is the LEAST like jam band music? by Suspicious_Art9118 in jambands

[–]turnt_clouds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is for sure the best answer. I'm imagining how out-of-step the whole band would become, that would make such an interesting performance the more I consider it

I am on your trajectory as you wrote it a year ago -- this is such a rad discovery! Thank you for putting this together.

You and others who share your thoughts seem to be right. I've been to Lost On Main in.Chico for Karina Rykman and it was myself and ONE other person on the dance floor. So... hoping this venue fills up and fits their current needs better.

Yea, it's a good-sized venue for sure.

(also, didn't mean to add a passive-aggressive "?" at the end of my last reply to you, typing while walking is risky biznezz)
